Don’t you realize
Chapter 1
Mistakes meant experience. Experience taught us what to avoid in the future. Therefore, mistakes were good, useful. But was it really necessary to make the same mistake twice? Well, technically, it wasn’t twice. It were two mistakes but they had undeniable similarities.
Slowly, she was beginning to feel like Meredith, sleeping with inappropriate men. Though in her case, it was more like inappropriate persons. She was one of the two interns not sleeping with their attendings, well, she had been. Now, she wasn’t anymore.
It was hard for her to believe that she had actually done this. First George, now Addison… Dr. Montgomery…Addison…whatever. She looked at the woman who was lying next to her, still peacefully sleeping. She had no idea what she would do now, except that from now on she wouldn’t get drunk again. Ever.
Again, she could remember clearly what had happened the night before and she wondered if Addison remembered as well. And if she did, what would she say? She decided that now wasn’t the time to think about it. All she wanted at the moment was to get out and leave, preferably not talking about this at all.
Luckily, they had gone to Addison’s hotel room and not her house. It would have complicated things a lot more. Here she could leave without seeing any of her roommates and no one would know about that. Not if she didn’t tell anyone. Quietly she moved her feet out from under the cover and got up, looking for her clothes.
Considering her current, not so pleasant situation, she at least found them quickly and could leave without making a sound. She just hoped that Addison would see her escape as a sign not to talk about it. It had been a mistake and one she wanted to forget about.
She gave her a last look and felt a little bit guilty for leaving like that but she felt like she had no other choice. If she stayed and waited for her to wake up, it would only lead to an awkward conversation and all. Nothing she wanted right now. She had done it once with George and she got crushed. Right now, she didn’t want to hear that again. She couldn’t bear hearing that sleeping with her was a mistake and therefore she made the decision not to talk about it at all.
Closing the door, she let out a deep breath and looked at her watch. She had to hurry if she wanted to be on time.
Half an hour later, she arrived at the hospital, almost running into the locker room to change. Only then she noticed that of course she was still wearing her clothes from the day before. She just hoped no one would notice and ask questions.
“You’re late.” Meredith remarked the minute she arrived at her locker and grinned at her.
“I know,” Izzie replied, slightly out of breath.
“And you didn’t come home yesterday,” Meredith smirked at her.
‘Caught’ Izzie thought, wincing slightly. “And? Since when is that a crime?” She snapped at her. Maybe that would stop her from further questions but she couldn’t stop herself from blushing lightly. She felt like a little girl caught with her hands in the cookie jar.
“It’s not,” Meredith chuckled but wondered why Izzie was so sensitive to this, “So, who was it?”
“Yeah, who was it?” Cristina chimed in with Meredith, still remembering Izzie’s questioning after she had found out about her and her professor. It was only fair that she turned the tables on them.
“No one,” Izzie shrugged and started changing, ignoring their stares.
“Right, you spend the night by yourself somewhere not your room?” Meredith raised an eyebrow at her, clearly not believing her. But on the other hand, why should she? It was obvious but that didn’t mean Izzie had to tell them.
Though, she had to admit she kind of would have loved to see Meredith’s face if she told her that she had slept with Addison that night. It probably would be priceless.
“Oh, come on, just spill,” Cristina said slightly annoyed, “You know you want to, I can see it in the smile on your face.”
“No, I don’t want to because there’s nothing to tell,” Izzie replied with an amused smile on her mind.
As much as she didn’t want to talk about last night, or even think about it, it was funny to see them standing in front of her, frustrated that she wouldn’t tell them. The smile on her face disappeared when the door opened and George came in, completely ignoring her. She could feel tears well up in her eyes and she had to swallow hard to keep her composure. She couldn’t fall apart right there and then.
She could see Meredith give her a funny look and Cristina looked questioning as well. Obviously, they had noticed that something was going on between her and George, hopefully they wouldn’t ask. But before either could say anything, Bailey came in and assigned them to their attendings. To Izzie’s delight, she was send down to the clinic. If she worked there she would neither have to see George, nor Addison.
Unfortunately, Izzie had no such luck. She was just out of the room when she saw Addison coming into her direction and the look on her face told her that she was looking for her. Deciding quickly, she turned and walked into the other direction, deliberately ignoring the call of her name.
She had the nagging feeling that it wouldn’t be the last time their paths would cross. Well, that would be a hell of a day, that she knew.
