Stuff I've Done...

Feb 18, 2010 18:35

(That has not been: fucking around on the internet or watching Japanese variety shows.)

1) Finished my jentfic-remix fic! With less than a week to spare! Now I only have a shitton of other fic to write! Woo!

2) Wrote about my last nine months in China. I did it looking at my Google Calendar and I have to say it was really interesting to go through. I've done a lot in the last nine months, and it's kinda cool to see it all laid out like that.

3) Did some work, which meant making an Action Plan out of the meeting minutes I took a couple of weeks ago. Then tried to crack Adobe Indesign but to no avail.

4) Went for a bike ride out to Xi Dan to H&M for some pants, but ended up finding a good pair at Uniqlo instead. Buying pants is a pretty depressing experience in China. Has to be said.

5) As I was riding - probably with the memory of writing out my last nine months - I had a little epiphany. On a simple afternoon shopping trip, I can pass Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, and the Drum & Bell Towers. It's like how I would always stare out the window of the bus going into the city over the Sydney Harbor Bridge to look at the Opera House - a forcible reminder that you live somewhere AWESOME.

6) On the way home, I stopped at the supermarket, where the jian bing guy stopped me to chat about how all the foreigners around here speak Chinese and how mine was pretty good in comparison. Those sort of random conversations are always fun. However, the conversation did mark the second time I have been urged to marry a Beijing man this week, and THAT is a question I need to learn how to answer.

7) Accidentally booked tickets to London last night. It was sort of planned, but I hadn't worked out the finances of it. The weird part is that I got a confirmation email this afternoon, but when I log into the account I booked it with, there's no record of it, while last night it was marked as "Processing..." The email says something about having to confirm my credit card details before it can go through, but the website doesn't say anything. I did call them but they were like CALL BACK NEXT WEEK WE HAVE NO ENGLISH SPEAKERS TODAY, only in Chinese. So I'm pretty sure they won't charge my credit card, and I'm hoping I won't incur the Y1000 cancelation fee since I haven't actually paid yet. Oh well. Expensive mistake if they don't let me cancel, but that's what you get for going through too many steps on a ticket booking site at 2AM.

The fireworks are going crazy tonight! I think I'm going to look up what festivities are on at the various 庙会 around the city tomorrow and see if anyone wants to go with me. Next year: totally hitting all the 庙会 in the city.

life: shopping, travel: plans, life: writing, life: work, life: china
