I actually packed today. Most of the kitchen stuff of 98% of my books. Next I'll finish off my books, do the rest of the kitchen. Then I'll hit clothes and last, toiletries and tools (not that I have many.) My mother insisted that she could bring home all the boxes I needed (eliminating the need to buy any.) What she brought home was a host of irregularly-shaped boxes that used to hold injectable drugs and alcohol pads and had a vague smell hanging about them that I couldn't place but really disliked. Oh well.
It's hard to believe I have only 10 days to the big move!
I'll be spending more time in my studio than I ever spent in a college dorm, so it's important that it be comfortable. I recently sketched out the floor plan, putting in where I wanted chairs, a desk, lights, etc. Despite the price of the studio, I am getting a LOT of space as Chicago goes, apparently. To be able to fit a full-size desk, bookcase, bed, couch and tv in one's space and still have room to turn around is pretty rare, I guess.
The con is I only have one closet. I've never been much of a hoarder, but that's pushing it, once you consider that things like guests' coats, ironing boards/laundry sundries, and towels also usually get stored in a closet of some sort.
Last but not least is the budget. I want to get a bed/mattress that's not utter trash because my back bothers me, but the almighty budget says that I can make a significant expenditure on a couch OR a bed, not both.
