New layout; something more summery, despite the determined lack of warm temperature around here. Sixty is not summer weather, sorry.
I've drawn up a $1500 budget for items for my apartment. All the necessities must fall in under it. I'm trying to decide whether to splurge (where splurge equals somewhere like West Elm, not Ethan Allen) on the major items (couch, coffee/side table, bed) and get the incidentals from flea markets and garage sales, or get the whole lot from places like Ikea and Walmart.com. I wish I'd done this before, so I could have some inkling of an idea what I'm doing. I do know well enough to know what colors I like to work with, and what style I like (modern, almost stripped down, with lots of clean lines.)
Next Wednesday is apartment shopping. I think I'll know a lot better about what to do about the furniture situation after I sign the lease and see the apartment.
