What happens in Bristol ...

Oct 21, 2008 16:05

What follows is as much as twisted_angel5 and I can remember from our visit down to Bristol to see rory_elizabeth. You have been warned, it is extremely long!

06.00: Sammi gets up (cause she's stupid obviously)
07.30: Julie (aka Sammi's mom) takes her to the train station and she gets there 1 hour before her actual train
07.40: Tracey gets up, takes her antibiotics and starts getting ready. Zomg!!
08.30: Sammi gets on an earlier train cause it's too cold and shes a woos! Figures Bristol Temple Meads has better facilities and it would be easier to wait for Jamie there instead
08:40: Tracey is on her bus and there is gridlock traffic and she thinks, shit. She gets off to get the train into Birmingham New street but her local trains are all delayed *fuck*. Network rail sucks!!!
09.10: I'm in Bristol Baby! Time for the first coffee of the day and to look like a loner while I wait for Jaime
09.40: Tracey gets her train because before 9.30 in Birmingham, it is shit expensive. Again, network rail sucks!!! FYI: Tracey does NOT like Rush Hour (not the movie :P). Rush Hour is evil!!!!
10.00: Jamie meets Sammi a little earlier than planned because she panicked after receiving Sammi's "I'm getting in an hour earlier" text. Big squishy hugs followed because OMG it's Jamie and we haven't seen each other since January!
10.05: Sammi and Jamie find a Starbucks (after I ditch my traitorous TrainStation!Coffee) and proceed to order lots of coffee!
11.05: After lots of talking about Jamie's England experience so far, Sarah Palin and present opening we decide to go look out for Tracey's train.
11.05: Tracey FINALLY gets into Bristol baby! She goes to WHSmiths because she needs some water.
11.06: Sammi is distracted by books in WHSmith's
11.09: We finish loking at books in WHSmith's and go look for Tracey
11.10: Sammi and Jamie were standing at the ticket barrier where I pounce behind them because I had already got out *lol*. Cue for a HUGE Jamie!squish!hug as soon as I said hi because HAI, not seen each other since Peg3 in January. Then I get more huge squishy hugs from teh Sammi *Aaaawwwwww*.

Sammi: So I think Tracey and I were a little distracted by travel plans (OMG national rail is a pain in the ass).
Tracey: Well you have to understand people, travel plans (and the weather) are huge talking points for us Brits, because it is so terrible and such a traumatic experience half of the time. :P
Sammi: So we realise that we actually haven't planned to do anything, we just turned up :P
Tracey: Yes, we were not very organised, lol.
Sammi: Well we are just in different aspects. It's all about saving us money, which is why the train thing was such an ordeal. Believe me £45 return (with discount) is basically robbing you. Well not so much me, more Tracey :P
Tracey: Uh huh. I find it rather odd that it cost so much from Birmingham. I was on the floor in shock, hence why I opted to get to Bristol an hour later for the cheapness (though it still wasn't that cheap off peak and with a discount.... crayzeee).
Sammi: Yeah, especially when it only cost me £12.60 open return at peak rate. Thirty minus extra travel time does not equal an extra £30!
Tracey: Indeed. Anyhoo we are getting a little sidetracked here. So the weather was very miserable yesterday (and today, in Birmingham at least, it's lovely. Typical)
Sammi: Evesham has sun today too!
Tracey: So we decided we'd just walk along to the new shopping complex that had just recently opened 15 minutes away from Temple Meads and then decide from there what to do. Jamie said there was a Monsoon Accessorize and I was like *glee*. Whenever she sees an Accessorize she always thinks of me *giggles*. But we never actually ended up going in there, lol.
Sammi: Aren't you glad though, look at how I was in H&M!
Tracey: Yes exactly, because you both know I would have brought something. ;)
Sammi: I'm nodding!

Note: A Sammi, a Jamie and a Tracey in a shopping complex is not a good thing. None of us really had money to spend but temptation was EVERYWHERE! Lol!

We took Jamie around places such as Debenhams and looked at pretty dresses even though we have no where to wear them (and consequently thought about Friends: The one where the girls are sitting in wedding dresses drinking beers, lol), SHOES and perfume. Jamie was amazed. But the whole point of going into Debenhams was to find a WC, a thing that was an often occurrence that day :P (Sammi: Trace aren't you reminded of our usual routine when we meet up. M&S for breakfast then off to Debenhams :P... Tracey: LOL *nods*). Sammi nearly fell down the escalators ... quite a few times *iz not safe*

We had lunch in Pret-A-Manger. Nice food and one of the least expensive places to eat in that complex. The queue was CRAYZEE but we eventually got through and found seats (even if we did have to clear the table ourselves). We ate, talked about Jamie and her uni stuff, fandom (as I had just got a text off Livs (blowersgate) squeeing madly, hehe), my nursing career thus far, Sammi and her potential new job and a lot of other important and interesting things friends generally chat about. :) Which means it was probably completely random, crazy and nonsensical. :P GIRAFFE!!!!!!!!!!

So it's only just gone 1pm and Tracey and I aren't leaving till 6pm. Jamie had pointed out a cinema on our 5cent tour earlier and we figure, why not check it out! We enter and omg, it's so different from other cinemas we have been in, more, I don't know, posh and comfy looking I guess are the words to describe it (like the lobby of a swanky hotel complete with bar!). We go to see what's on and in a time frame of them starting (around 2-3pm) and decide upon How to Lose Friends and Alienate People. With Simon Pegg, Kirsten Dunst and Gillian Anderson it's got to be good, right? We get tickets and then decide to wonder a bit because the movie doesn't actually start until 2pm. Jamie wondered if La Senza was like Victoria Secrets so we gave her a tour (as Sammi and I said we had both spent shit loads in that shop recently). She gets excited about all the cute PJ's and wants to buy some before she goes back home to Chicago.

We come back to the cinema, get some drink and M&Ms and proceed to screen 5. Sammi had forgotten her glasses so we opted for seats near the front (Sammi: Yes I am that lame!) and dude, the were sort of like recliner chairs (or rocking chairs I guess). Jamie is very excited because this is her first cinema experience in England (but then we get annoyed because we were supposed to see Harry Potter 6 together until they moved it back until next year *pouts*). Anyway I get my camera out and see try to get a picture of Jamie (which she hides from, lol) and then I give her, her birthday present to which she was all happy about because I got her some Cadbury's Flakes (Sammi: I got her 5, beat that :P) and dairy milk which had come straight from Cadbury world itself, as I had asked my uncle to get me some... (he works there ;)).

The film turned out to be quite awesome. Though it was slow to start off with, it picked up and became quite the little gem of a movie. Simon Pegg is well, genious and Gillian Anderson was freakin' fantabulous (though the blonde hair still sorta irks me. Red Head Gill is much better IMO. Sammi disagrees, she likes Gillian with Blonde or Brunette hair way better). Ooh and Jeff Bridges sort of freaked me out at first, but he turned out to be quite funny.

The movie finished at just gone four, it's now been a few hours since Jamie and Sammi have had coffee so we go round the corner to Costa. The queue is insane, another theme of the day, so I go and get us some seats with comfy chairs. Tracey knows what I drink cause we've been to Costa enough :P While I wait I see a guy with the finest ass EVA! Big up the Assistant Manager! Seriously, I'm regretting not taking a photo to prove to you guys. Finally Jamie and Tracey sit down and I point him out to them. They agree, there was junk in his trunk (or glute in his boot :P) (Tracey: is seriously pmsl at remembering that bit of the day. Hehehe) There was more talking and then, PHOTOS!! Well we were all determined to get some photos out of the day, even though I (Tracey) looked like complete and utter shit (damn you rain, damn you!!!). Jamie and Sammi shy away at first as they hate photos (as we all do) and then we sorta get some good ones, lol. Photos to follow at some point. :)

So after much photograph taking (and being blinded by flashes) we decided we must get up because it was gone 5pm and Jamie and I wanted to go to The Body Shop and Sammi to H&M (oh noes). We get to the body shop and look around, Jamie gets annoyed that she didn't actually need anything. And then there was mention of Chicago... Jamie said that Chicago had only just gotten a H&M and she called Chicago the rebel city and then Sammi and I start thinking about Calamity Jane and singing 'just got back from the windy city, the windy city is mighty pretty but it ain't got what I got' and also the Deadwood Stage. Haha (long live Doris Day, hehe). Jamie informs me on msn last night that she had no idea we did that, lol. Anyhoo we then toddle off to H&M and well, I will let Sammi explain that bit. So I (Sammi) had seen, in this magazine, that H&M have this Tartan scarf that I want ... you guys know me and scarves. I see one and want it. So going into H&M was a bad idea but no-one stopped me :P I spent around £30 on two scarves, a hat and a pair of gloves!

Then was the time to go back to the train station for Sammi and I to get our train *sniffles*. The weather was still completely awful, so we had to battle wind and rain with our umbrellas (Jamie completely gets why we English complain so much about rain now. Oh and she thinks England will completely sink one day from the amount of rain we get, lol). We missed the 6pm train (cause nature called all 3 of us) so waited around until our 6.30pm train. We talked a little more and then was the goodbyes. We make tentative plans for another meet up in Birmingham because Jamie wants to come up here and see it (have no idea why :P). And I mentioned after 17th November because the German Christmas Markets will be here *Yay*. So we all had a huge squishy group hug and then Sammi and I went and got our train.

19.15: Sammi gets off the train at her station
20.00: Tracey gets into Birmingham New Street
20.05: After some very careful driving in pouring rain and darkness and a stop at the store Sammi gets home
20.30: Tracey gets on her bus (she lives stupidly far away from Birmingham town centre).
21.00: Sammi starts watching Sanctuary
21.10: Tracey finally gets home. Phew! And watches Sanctuary
22.00: We were supposed to write this post but Sammi was cold and extremely tired! I'm glad we didn't now cause OMG this has taken SOOOOOO long!
