Back in the Real World.

So, I'm back from Scripps sporting a snazzy dark gray sweatshirt. Fortunately, they didn't screw up too bad. I had a couple moments of doubt, but that was just because I was getting skittish.

So, before I decide not to say anything, I love you all, and I will always, always, always, ALWAYS think of you, love you, and be your friend. Even if I'm living in Pleasantville, CA.

Okay, so breakdown of events. I DROVE myself to Claremont (Well, Dad was there too) ON the Freeway (Niki, tell your mother). I checked in and met my host, named Kristen. She introduced me to Kat (her suitemate) and we walked over to her room.

At Scripps, they have these suite-y things. It's basically five small singles connected by a hall and a bathroom. I didn't like the set-up at all. The alley, I mean hall, barely fit my shoulders, there was one toilet and one shower for ten girls (Worse than your house, Niki-chan), and there were tacky construction-paper fish and kelp all over the walls. Personally, I'd rather not have to deal with that kind of thing. The halls with the double and triple rooms pretty much leave you to your own devices.

After dinner (Pizza and salad--didn't dare try the pasta, since Kat said it looked like leftovers) we headed down to the "Study Break" featuring Johnny Depp. I made it all the way through Chocolat (with the aid of fondue and marshmellos) and up to "Elizabeth Turner's" trip into the cave o' swag (Pirates of the Caribbean... in case you couldn't figure it out. ^_~). After that, I told Kristen I was tired and wanted to go back to the room. I was actually kinda bored, to be honest. She took a shower and I changed and climbed into my sleepingbag and she went to do God-knows-what. I had my little breakdown there, on the floor of her room. I wasn't sure what time she came in, but it seemed like four in the morning. Remind me never to do that either.

Woke up at 8:40, booked it down to Seal Court (they have Seal fountains there... ^.^) and I met up with parents and Jule. Kristen bid me farewell, and frankly, I was slightly glad to see her go.

First I visited a panel on the Core program, which is like basic education at Scripps. That's the program where I want to take History of Mysteries: From Conan Doyle to Film Noir, and Recreating Genji. After that panel, Mom and I headed down to Balch Hall to listen to the head of the Politics, International Relations, and Economics Departments. She was really impressive, and I found it interesting that the Pol./IR/Econ. major is pretty popular at Scripps. I always thought it was Literature.

Afterwards, we ate lunch on the lawn where I met a girl named Megan and another girl who's name I never caught (she wasn't wearing her nametag). We talked about what we wanted and how we were all probably going to Scripps, and that made me feel a little better. At least I'll know someone going in.

After lunch, I decided to kill myself and take the 5-C (Five College) Tour. For those who don't know, Scripps is surrounded by Harvey Mudd, Pomona, Pitzer, and CMC (Claremont McKenna "Men's" College). Many of the facilities in Mudd, Pomona, Pitzer, and CMC are available for me to use, like the theater facilities, libraries, common rooms, dining halls (Pomona has the "Harry Potter" dining hall, I swear to God), and athletic rooms. I never found out where they hold the Archery classes, but I'll find out sometime. After that tour, my feet were screaming at me to beg my parents for a bike.

Then I decided to look at the theater facilities because, well, I like losing the feeling in my feet (Theatre is over at Pomona--near the end of the Claremont Consortium). They had some really nice stuff, like a Green Room that doesn't have makeup and costumes going on inside it--they actually have *separate* rooms for that stuff. OH! And I can do Work-Study in the Costumes Dept. :P Happy! Pomona has this Greek Theatre that is almost never used, so I plan to do something with it. I mean, c'mon, you can't ignore a stage with a fire-pit in the center.

Once we'd finished the tours, we stopped by for "tea", which was pretty much lemonade and some really good brownies, strawberries, cookies, and some vegetables and dip. The admissions people and the Vice President were walking around talking to different girls and families, and I just thought, "How nice. I'm going to a place where there are 215 girls in my class, and people actually have time to know each one on a semi-personal level."

After tea, I wanted a sweatshirt, but they didn't have the evergreen one in my size. So we drove over to the bookstore and bought me the sweatshirt I'm wearing now. ^^ I'll wear it to school on Monday, or whenever I see one of you.

This is scary, I'm going to be a Scrippsie. O_O

*Scurries off to play FFXI*
