You know what sucks?
1. Procrastinating on starting up gas service in our name.
2. Getting incorrect information (accidentally) saying that the gas will not get shut off, that the gas company will simply bill the current residents (us).
3. Not getting a notice from the gas company that the service would definitely be shut off by such-and-such a date, so hurry up and sign up for gas service!
4. Discovering the gas is turned off only when our roommate calls in the middle of the day to tell us the stove and heater are not working. Also, there is no notice of service being terminated, either on the door or the gas meter.
And finally, to add insult to injury,
5. Service will not start for a week after the "request to begin service" form is submitted online. Fortunately we did this as soon as we got home tonight.
What this means for us is no heater, no stove, and no hot water. Until February 2nd! Ahhhh!!!!
This is when I give thanks for my (on-loan-from-Richard) electric heating fan, microwave, toaster oven, and friends with showers. Oh yes, and socks.
