I thought I'd take the time to do a brief[ish] update on my myriad projects, just because I can. ^_^ Also, it might actually be motivational. You never know, with rambling.
THE PARKING LOT SPARROWS
Synopsis: quietly gay Iranian boy is pwned, death-wise, in a supermarket parking lot. Less CSI, more of an angsty whodunit.
I'm just beginning on the thus-far elusive Part Two, which will include some of my favorite viewpoints--The Dancing Queen, the Midway Man, the Braceface, the Desperate Housewife, and the Hafiz.
The Hafiz will a lot of fun, considering he's the only character who doesn't live in Lincoln--he lives in Tabriz, I think. Hafiz, Tabriz. Things are easier when they rhyme.
THE SOMETHING BENEATH THE STAIRS
Synopsis: Annabelle falls in love with The Wrong Boy and is forced, more or less, into Rapunzel-esque psychological torture. It's messy and Gothic and I love it.
I need to finish this for Cal's contest--granted, it's shorter, but it's still a novella to write in six days. I think "inshallah" is appropriate.
ABKHAZIA, RESOLUTE
Synopsis: does it really have a plot? Answer--no. It's basically a less-pretentious philosophic rambling about pain and how to reconcile it with the existence of God. Plus, my main narrator is a hoot and a half.
This'll be first on the docket after The Something, simply because it's been bugging me in the brain for awhile.
D iS FOR DIPHTHERIA
Synopsis: Was my NaNovel, but now is simply a wonderful cast of characters wandering around rural Nebraska with no plot. I've been writing a lot of shorts for them, to keep them occupied.
"GERRYMANDERING"
A short story for Cal's contest. Basically, two extempers--two immigrants; one Chinese and one Pakistani--fall in love against their will(s). It's cute, and I get to crack a lot of Musharraf jokes that no one will get.
"A LIVELY CONVERSATION BETWEEN TWO CORPSES"
Gothic-esque tale of two criminals, one true, one false, and how they attempt to escape prison. It makes me all kinds of happy.
---
So, there's half a scoop--when my brain un-scatters into one direction, I'll pick one to ramble about further.
