I liked the prompt for today--"Why'd you pick your username?" I was random-articleing Wikipedia, and found a bunch of random stuff for titles (that's where Abkhazia, Resolute came from). The Little Red Book was Mao Zedong's famous whatsit--it's not actually "Little Red Book" in Mandarin, but Americans don't know any better, and I thought it was lovely and antiquated and communist-ignorant. Ironic, if you will.
Also, I have no idea what Conor Oberst is, religiously. This song is like super-blasphemy in three faiths, but then there's Lifted, which is all, "Is it true what I heard about the son of God?" It bugs me, and I don't know why. XD I have to knowww.
The big news is: I can has a gig. It's not paid, but it's wunderbar and so perfect for Infidels--there are a load of Burmese immigrants coming in because of the cyclone and all the grossness that's going down, and the little kids at First Baptist need an ESL teacher. They have two, but there are a ton of kids and a few adults, and really need two people for the kids. Me = !!! I'll do that! So I'll at least sort of know what I'm talking about when it comes to ESL and immigration and all that good stuff, which is a total win.
I went to a church service in Japanese today. It was kind of hysterical, in a cute way--it was very honest and powerful, but they're all so quiet! It's already a weird enough language to wrap your mind around, let alone at five decibels. XD Amazing fun, though. It's great to actually use the language that you're taking that everyone says is useless. -_- Kind of like when I told my Greek grandmother about my career intentions:
ME: I want to work in Iran. So I have to learn Persian.
YIA-YIA: So you can chat up Osama bin-hoosifat? Really, honey--
ME: -__-
Oh, life. It's fun.
