Tryouts Were Sunday
And I wasn't there! :(
I made the decision last week that I really wasn't competitive yet. I could barely squeak out a crossover and just begun learning to skate backwards. It's pretty heartbreaking because-as anyone who reads my journal knows-I have been looking forward to trying out since last fall. I worked out all winter and then once the weather turned nice, I started skating. But even though I could skate well enough, I didn't have the derby skills under my belt by the time of tryouts. So I am putting off trying out until next year.
This comes on the heels of meeting Ivana Clobber again at the fourth clinic. I saw her introducing herself to people so I went up to her and as soon as I said Hi, she yelled: "OH MY GOD!!! I tell everyone about you!!" and gave me a hug! She remembered me from back in February when I took a picture with her and told her she was my idol!! She then said: "How well do you skate? Let's get you onto the league!" :(
Kitty Twister said there will be volunteer opportunities. Hopefully I will be able to help out in the upcoming season somehow. In the meantime, back to skating and perfecting skills for next year. And there are the summer scrimmages in Southie to look forward to.
