The Wedding Planner [7]

Nov 17, 2012 23:19

Pairing: Yunho/Jaejoong; Yunho/Ara
Genre: AU/Romance/Humor/Drama
Rating: PG
Summary: He was supposed to plan Yunho’s wedding, not fall in love with him.

Jaejoong felt like he was about to explode. He was going off the walls, and he couldn’t stop thinking about what was going to happen in two days. In two days, a lot of people were going to be expecting a phenomenal wedding, and although Jaejoong was sure he’d be able to deliver on his side of the issue, there was still one major problem.

He was still missing a bride and groom.

The wedding planner let out a loud sigh and ran his hands through his hair in an attempt to calm himself down. He’d tried calling Yunho earlier, but the other man wasn’t picking up his calls or replying to his texts either. Although Yunho hadn’t completely abandoned him and showed up to things like the finalization of the flower decorations, the caterer, the DJ, and some other things, he still hadn’t updated Jaejoong on the status of the couple to get married.

Jaejoong sighed at the unfairness of it all. He still had other weddings that needed some of his attention, yet he was still doing everything that’d been asked of him. He’d transferred the billing over to Yunho’s bank account, and he’d also done his part in making sure everything was going smoothly. Couldn’t Yunho at least do his part and help him out a bit more? Even though they met quite often, each meeting left him hanging and still clueless as to how everything was going.

Didn’t he deserve the right to be reassured that all their planning wouldn’t end up as one huge disaster?

Carrying around such a huge secret was driving him absolutely crazy, and Jaejoong didn’t know how much longer he could last. He knew that Changmin could tell there was something up with him, but Jaejoong couldn’t tell him a single word about everything he was feeling. His phone beeped, and Jaejoong was immediately snapped out of his thoughts.

We have to meet today. I’m coming over.

Jaejoong felt his heart stop in his chest.

What had gone wrong now?
o-o-o

Yunho was an hour late, and Jaejoong could feel his heart threaten to explode out of his chest. He’d never been the best person to deal with such stress and pressure, and if Yunho didn’t come soon, he knew he’d burst. Jaejoong paced the floor in front of Changmin, and the younger man cleared his throat to catch his boss’ attention.

“Why are you burning a hole into the carpet with all that pacing?” Changmin asked as he turned his eyes back to the documents he’d been flipping through. “Just…sit down or something. Your restlessness is completely off putting.”

“Please tell me I’m not insane.”

Changmin looked up from the papers that were on his desk and shot Jaejoong an uninterested look. “You of all people should know that I’m never going to protest against your insanity.” He looked back down at the papers then looked back up. “But why in the world are you suddenly so…”

Jaejoong slowly moved and sat down in front of him. “What are we doing Changmin…tell me, what are we doing?”

The younger man narrowed his eyes. “Have you taken too much cough medicine again?” He reached forward and pressed a palm against the older man’s forehead to check if he had a fever. When he realized the Jaejoong was at a normal temperature, he drew back his hand and studied him carefully.

“…we’re planning a wedding.”

“Whose wedding?”

Changmin’s eyes narrowed, but he decided to play along with Jaejoong for a bit longer. He straightened up and clasped his hands together on his desk. “We’re planning Go Ara’s marriage to Jung Yunho…”

“Are you sure?” Jaejoong asked as he tried to calm himself down. However, he was failing completely. The longer it took Yunho to come and save him from bursting, Jaejoong just knew that he’d confess everything if Changmin pressed the issue further. He let out a sigh and tried to change the topic, “God, I just -“

The younger man shook his head in disbelief. “Okay, what the fuck is going on Jaejoong?” he asked bluntly, his tone clear that he didn’t want to deal with any more of the older man’s bizarre behavior. “You better tell me everything now or else I’m quitting and throwing -“

“They’re not getting married.”

“What?”

Before Jaejoong could even think about the consequences, he confessed everything to Changmin. Not a single detail was left out, and he even told the younger man about the fact Yunho had kissed him. Changmin’s expression grew more and more shocked as Jaejoong told him everything, and as soon as he was done, Jaejoong took in a deep breath to calm himself down.

It was at that moment that Jaejoong realized that he’d managed to shock Changmin speechless. Even he didn’t know what to say to the younger man. He had no words of comfort or reassurance, and the only person that could help them at that moment was the man behind it all.

“Jaejoong?”

Both men turned their heads, and before Jaejoong could say anything, Changmin spoke first.

“Jung Yunho, you better fucking know what you’re doing, or else I’m going to kill you for putting Jaejoong and I through so much stress.”

Yunho’s eyes widened, and he looked at Jaejoong. “You…you told him?”

The wedding planner nodded, “I’m -“

“Don’t apologize.” Yunho cut in, shooting Jaejoong an apologetic look before he turned his attention over to Changmin, who was glowering at him. He took a deep breath and replied to the younger man calmly. “Everything is…almost in place. Don’t worry. Jaejoong, do you want me to take you out for lunch or something?”

Jaejoong stood up slowly and reached for Yunho’s outstretched arm. He shook his head as he walked next to Yunho, “…you’re going to ask for another favor from me, aren’t you?”

“Well…”

The wedding planner let out a loud sigh and squeezed Yunho’s arm tightly, his grip filled with his anger and frustration, as he walked away with the other man. He looked up and glared at him, “You do realize that you’re not paying me enough for this drama, right? I expect you to pay extra consultation fees and for my future psychiatric therapy.”

“I’d do anything for you -“

“If you weren’t so cute, I wouldn’t -“

Jaejoong froze, and Yunho looked down at him. The wedding planner’s face turned beet red, and he let go of Yunho’s arm and pushed him away. He cleared his throat as they approached the parking lot, and doing his best to calm himself down, he looked at Yunho.

“So, what’s the plan?”

Yunho looked at him and cleared his throat, “Why don’t we get into the car first?”

“No, I want to hear you out here.” Jaejoong said slowly. “I don’t want to get trapped with you in your car or something.”

The other man chuckled then forced a smile. “Uhm…well, I need you to call Geun Suk out...because he’s been rejecting my invitations to meet the entire week.” He bit his lip, and Jaejoong tilted his head.

“Why does that name sound familiar?”

It took a while for the name to form into a face for him mentally, and as soon as all the pieces fell into place, Jaejoong stared at Yunho in horror. “Please don’t tell me you mean the Jang Geun Suk.” Jaejoong rambled as he massaged his forehead with his hand, “Oh God. He’s Ara’s boyfriend? What? How? When? Why did she break up with him?”

“He wasn’t always famous,” Yunho explained as he opened the car door for Jaejoong to get in. “And he’s not from the same kind of background that Ara’s from...her father disapproved of him greatly.”

Jaejoong sighed, “That all sounds like something from a drama.” He turned and faced Yunho. “What do you need me to do?”

“…just…pretend to be a reporter or something.” Yunho said as he took out a media pass for Jaejoong and handed it to him. He noticed that Jaejoong’s eyes widened, and he quickly explained, “I have all the connections to see him, but he just refuses to see me. All you have to do is distract him for a bit.”

Jaejoong took the pass and slipped it on. “Of course he doesn’t want to see you. You’d look like a complete asshole to him, seeing as everyone thinks you’re marrying the girl who was probably the love of his life and the subject of a lot of his love songs -“

Yunho laughed, “Thank you for that.”

“I just wanted to approach things through his perspective.” Jaejoong mumbled, a blush rising to his cheeks. He raised his eyes and looked up at Yunho, “For what it’s worth, I do think you’re a good guy for helping your best friend and going the extra mile for her sake.”

“Thank you -“

“But you’re still an asshole for putting me through all this drama.” Jaejoong finished with a smile before he got into Yunho’s car.
o-o-o

Jaejoong turned to look at Yunho, “So…what about Ara?” He asked as they waited for Ara’s call outside of Yunho’s car. “Does she know about everything that’s going to happen today?”

“No.”

The wedding planner let out a sigh and crossed his arms. “Why aren’t I surprised about this?” he kept his eyes on Yunho’s face, “But you know how you’re going to talk to her about everything, right?”

Yunho nodded, “This time, I’m sure about what I’m going to say.” He glanced at Jaejoong and touched his hand briefly. “I’ll just meet her, talk to her…and if all goes well, I should be coming back with her.”

“Good luck.” Jaejoong said with a small reassuring smile. “You know her best, so I’m sure you can get through to her.”

“Thanks.”

Yunho walked away, and Jaejoong watched him enter the fancy apartment building. As soon as he disappeared behind sliding doors, he sighed and got back inside of Yunho’s car. He drummed his fingers on the dashboard restlessly then decided to turn on the radio while he waited.

Ironically enough, the moment the radio turned on, a Jang Geun Suk song started playing. Jaejoong could only hope that it was a good sign.
o-o-o

It took almost twenty minutes, but Jaejoong perked up when he caught sight of Yunho walking out of the apartment building. He sat up and his heart clenched tightly in his chest when he realized that Ara wasn’t with him. His and Yunho’s eyes met across the distance, and he felt slightly confused when Yunho smiled at him. It was only after a few seconds that he realized that Ara was close to Yunho, her face hidden by dark sunglasses.

When they reached the car, Ara stopped and looked at him before she turned to look at Yunho.

“Why…” she trailed off then shook her head, a small smile playing at the corners of her lips. “Nevermind, you don’t need to explain Yunho. I understand.” Ara opened the backdoor for herself and slipped into the car, leaving Yunho and Jaejoong outside.

Jaejoong bit his lip, “Everything’s alright?”

Yunho shot him a tired smile and nodded. “For the most part…it was a bit difficult at first, but she’s tired of all of her father’s bullshit. Besides, she -“

“Has you to help her out.”

“Yeah, I guess.” Yunho chuckled, “I’m sorry for all the trouble.”

Jaejoong sighed tiredly, “Well, you managed to play on my personality traits. You hooked in my inner romantic and my obsessive compulsive tendencies. I won’t be able to sleep properly if everything doesn’t get settled here.”

“All we have to do now is get them to meet.” Yunho said slowly, his eyes meeting Jaejoong’s. He smiled at him and brushed back a few strands of the shorter man’s hair before he drew away and smiled. “Then…”

“Everything will be set?”

“Pretty much.”

They stared at each other for a bit longer, then Jaejoong sighed and averted his eyes first. He crossed his arms and looked at Yunho, “Just so you know, this isn’t going to be cheap.”

Yunho laughed, “I’ll be willing to pay anything, for as long as it takes. Name your price.”

“I’ll think about what I want,” Jaejoong replied before he pushed Yunho aside and opened the car door. As soon as he was inside, he rolled down the car window and looked up at Yunho. “Now let’s go. Let’s set things straight.”
o-o-o

Jaejoong fiddled with his media pass and breathed in. The task was simple, all he had to do was distract Geun Suk a bit, long enough so that he wouldn’t know that Yunho was in the same building and try to avoid him as he’d done several times before. Yunho was outside, talking to his contact to make sure about Geun Suk’s schedule, leaving both Jaejoong and Ara alone in the car. He glanced back at Ara, and she was staring down at her hands.

“Hey.” He breathed out, looking at her in concern.

She looked up at shot him a small smile. “Hi.”

“…do you know what to say?”

Ara laughed softly and shook her head, her gaze returning back to her hands. She bit her lip and let out a sigh. “Nope, not at all…what am I supposed to say? Say sorry for being a bitch, for being -“

“Don’t beat yourself over it.” Jaejoong muttered. “I know…I know it’s not something you wanted to do to him, but what’s done is done. You can fix things though. I’m no expert on love, trust me, but…he just needs to know the truth.”

“Then what?”

Jaejoong bit his lip, “Then you wait. It’ll be up to him. Scary…but, I guess…”

Ara smiled at him, “Thank you…for everything. You didn’t need to do anything for me, but you did. I can see why Yunho -“

The car door opened, and Yunho looked at them. They both turned to look at him. Ara gasped, and Jaejoong’s eyes widened. “Your eye!”

“Jaejoong, get out of the car.”

“Huh -“

“Geun Suk’s here.”

Jaejoong swallowed. “Oh, so uhm…” He quickly got out of the car, and his eyes widened further when he saw Geun Suk standing near the car. He watched as the singer got in without sparing him a single glance, and as soon as the car door had shut, he looked at Yunho. The other man walked over to him, and Jaejoong bit his lip.

“What about…” He held up his media pass, and Yunho shook his head.

“It was a stupid idea.” Yunho muttered as he touched his bruised eye then winced. “I figured that it was time I just…I explained everything to him inside the studio. He punched me first though.”

Jaejoong glanced at Yunho’s car. “Do you think they’ll be alright?”

Yunho nodded, “They’ll be alright.”

Silence fell between them, and Jaejoong chuckled. Yunho let out a sigh, but before he said anything, Jaejoong spoke first.

“What about you, will you be alright?”

“Will you kiss it better?”

Jaejoong scowled and shoved Yunho away. “Come on, let’s go buy some ice. I see a convenience store.” He muttered, his face reddening as he marched away from Yunho and ignored the laughter that was ringing from behind him.
