“Why do you even like him?”

Jaejoong looked up from the student medical record he was looking at and turned his head to look at the two students who were seated next to each other on one of the benches in the clinic.

He tilted his head to look at them a bit better, and Jaejoong noted that they were both rather effeminate. One of the boys he recognized to be Kim Kibum - better known as Key, but he couldn’t remember the name of the other boy who he knew to be Key’s best friend.

The young boy looked up, “…he’s cute.”

Key rolled his eyes and crossed his legs. He shook his head disapprovingly when his friend didn’t take back his words and huffed, “How old is he? Isn’t he like…thirty something? He’s way too -“

“He’s only twenty four - that’s just an eight year age difference, and -“

Jaejoong chuckled in amusement quietly and shook his head, but he was curious as to who they were both talking about. There weren’t that many teachers that young, but he assumed that they were probably talking about Mr. Choi, the new History teacher.

“Have you seen his sweaters? Taemin, are you blind?”

“He’s so nice though,” Taemin muttered shyly, “He stayed with me after class when I didn’t understand how to balance chemical reactions…he even touched my hand briefly when he reached for my pen -“

Jaejoong stiffened in his seat, and Key slapped his forehead with the palm of his hand in dismay. The flamboyant boy shook his head disapprovingly and pushed at Taemin roughly, “Jesus Christ Taemin, he’s your unfashionable Chemistry teacher. Stop crushing on him and move on, Mr. Jung is -“

“But Key -“

Jaejoong stood up sharply and pointed at the door, “Both of you, out. I don’t think either of you is really sick, and both of you are just disturbing the other people here. Come on, get out and head back to class.”

Key scowled as he headed out, but Jaejoong paid more attention to Taemin who meekly followed Key out the door. As soon as they were both outside, Jaejoong scowled and irritably picked up the medical record he was supposed to be reading.

How could anyone have a crush on Jung Yunho?

Jaejoong huffed and scribbled messily in order to fill up the paper. While he worked, he thought of Yunho’s ugly sweaters that he hated, Yunho’s Chemistry jokes that Jaejoong rarely understood, and Yunho’s hair that Jaejoong just wanted to run his hands through constantly -

Fuck, he was getting carried away for the fourth time that day.

Key was right - no one was supposed to have crushes on dorky Chemistry teachers with ugly sweaters, but unfortunately, Jaejoong did have an irritatingly huge crush on the dorkiest, the least fashionable, the oddest, and the most handsome Chemistry teacher in existence - Jung Yunho.

“…why aren’t you in the clinic?”

Jaejoong looked up from his lunch and smiled causally, “I wanted to see you Yoochun. You know I like spending my lunches with you -“

Yoochun slapped his face with his palm, “Are you here to stalk Yunho again?” he sat down and placed his tray onto the table as he shook his head disapprovingly.

“He doesn’t come to the clinic often,” Jaejoong said with a restless sigh and a pout.

The music teacher shrugged, “He doesn’t get sick often, and he told me he doesn’t like going to clinics and hospitals in general -“

“But he should still come anyway just to see me!”

Yoochun rolled his eyes, “I told you Jaejoong, he’s more interested in imparting knowledge onto his students then talking to you -“

“I think you should be more interested in imparting knowledge onto your students. I don’t think you’re a real teacher,” Jaejoong muttered with a scowl as he prodded at his kimbap, “Music teacher? Seriously?”

“I’m not a stalker -“

“I’m not a stalker!”

“You just try to cater to people and their dirty nurse fantasies -“

“I wouldn’t mind if I was Yunho’s dirty nurse fantasy -“

“You twisted -“

“I dreamt he came into the clinic -“

Their conversation came to an abrupt halt as soon they heard a nervous cough come from a distance. Jaejoong turned his head, and his face turned beet red as soon as he saw who was standing near them in a surprisingly nice and not garish sweater. His mouth fell open, and everything in his head immediately flew out of mind.

“…can I sit here?”

Jaejoong’s mouth was still open, but luckily enough for him, Yoochun managed to recover first. He smiled at Yunho charmingly and pointed at the free seat next to Jaejoong, “Sure. You can sit next to Jaejoong.”

Yunho timidly placed his tray next to Jaejoong’s lunch, “Is it -“

“Yes it’s okay!”

Jaejoong’s face turned ever redder, and when he looked at Yoochun, the other man was shaking his head in amusement. Jaejoong turned down and glared at his kimbap while he could feel his stomach twisting and turning in anxiety.

“So Yunho…” Yoochun trailed off and raised an eyebrow at Jaejoong, who was doing his best not to keep staring at Yunho. He cleared his throat and glanced at Yunho’s sweater, “I like your sweater.”

Yunho looked up from his salad, “Oh…you do? I was a bit worried that it didn’t look that nice. I asked for help…” he chuckled and ran a hand through his hair, “I know grown men should be able to dress themselves but…I guess I’m not that good at it.”

Jaejoong looked up from his food and studied Yunho, “Who helped you?” he asked curiously.

“A girlfriend?”

Jaejoong turned his head and scowled at Yoochun, who ignored Jaejoong’s menacing look and kept his eyes fixed onto Yunho.

Yunho fidgeted nervously under their gaze, “No, just my sister-“

“Yunho! Lee Taemin is looking for you,” called one of the teachers from the faculty eating area entrance. He waved to catch Yunho’s attention, “He said that you were supposed to give him an exam?”

“Oh, right,” Yunho quickly got out of his chair, “I have to go,” he smiled politely, “Excuse me.”

Jaejoong looked at him with a forlorn look on his face, “But Yunho, you haven’t even finished eating yet…” he mumbled.

“I’m sorry,” Yunho said with a gentle smile, “I’ll eat with you next time, I promise.” He bowed his head in apology once more before he took his tray, cleared away its contents, and made his way out the door.

Yoochun rolled his eyes at the dumb look on Jaejoong’s face, “You idiot.”

“Did you hear…?”

“Yes I heard,” Yoochun said idly as he picked through his sandwich to remove the tomatoes, “I heard that Lee Taemin and Yunho will be spending the rest of lunch time together which I’m surprised that you didn’t comment about -“

Jaejoong rolled his eyes and began to eat with renewed vigor, “Psh, Yunho said he’s going to be having lunch with me.”

“….maybe he meant me?”

Before Yoochun could duck, he got a piece of kimbap straight to his face. He blinked as it fell down onto his plate, and Jaejoong chuckled immaturely. He pointed his chopsticks at Yoochun, “Maybe Yunho just meant lunch, but just you wait, I’m going to make it a romantic dinner then we’ll -“

“Obviously not have sex.”

Jaejoong scowled before his face turned to a look of determination, “No, there will be sex - and lots of it.”
o-o-o
Jaejoong watched as Yunho had his Chemistry class out at the garden near the clinic. He stepped out and left behind his co-worker, Siyeon, so that he could watch the class from afar. He watched as the class managed around with some sort of equipment, and as his eyes lingered on Lee Taemin, he noticed that the teenager was about to stumble on a tree root.

However, instead of the young boy hitting the ground, Jaejoong watched jealously as Yunho reached out to catch him like the two of them were in some manhwa. If things really like were a manhwa, Jaejoong was pretty sure he would’ve seen sparkles in Taemin’s eyes.

“Jesus Christ,” he hissed under his breath as he watched Yunho help Taemin up, the latter blushing furiously.

“Is it just me, or does Mr. Jung seem different to you?”

Jaejoong turned his head back, and he smiled kindly when he saw the headmistress smiling at him cheerfully. He bit the inside of his lip and cast one look at Yunho before he averted his eyes, “In what way?”

“He looks…” Mrs. Woo paused in thought before she replied, “He’s been dressing a bit differently, don’t you think? I think his new attire flatters him. I’ve heard from the other teachers that he’s trying to catch someone’s attention.”

“Whose?” Jaejoong asked, his jealousy surfacing, “I…I didn’t hear about that.”

The elderly woman chuckled, “I don’t know, but I think it must be going quite well. Yunho seems very happy lately.”

Jaejoong looked away from her, and when he saw Yunho and Taemin laughing for some unknown reason, his gut churned with envy.

“He seems a bit too happy,” Jaejoong said with a scowl.
o-o-o
As soon as Jaejoong caught sight of Yunho sitting alone at the faculty room, he quickened his steps and dropped into the seat next to him loudly. He smiled brightly and leaned to look at what Yunho was reading before he leaned back into his seat and relaxed.

“Good afternoon,” Yunho said with a shy smile as he shut the textbook he’d been browsing through, “Not a busy day for you?” he asked.

Jaejoong shook his head, “Just the usual, kids faking sick,” he said with a smile. His eyes wandered away from Yunho’s face down to the black dress shirt that hugged his upper body nicely. After a few seconds of gawking, his mind instantly remembered what Mrs. Woo had said about Yunho trying to catch someone’s attention.

“So…”

Yunho tilted his head, “Yes?”

Jaejoong licked his lips nervously, “What happened to your sweaters?”

The Chemistry teacher looked at him blankly, “…what?”

“I…I mean, you…” Jaejoong blushed and ran a hand through his hair, “You used to dress differently, and now you’re dressing like…you’re dressing like you belong in some sort of magazine.”

“Oh.”

“I mean!” Jaejoong bit his lip, “It’s not that I don’t like it, I…I do like it, but you know…I’m just…I mean, I’m curious, because you know, the sweaters were cute and…no, I mean, it’s not that you’re not cute now, it’s just...different.”

A smile formed on Yunho’s lips, and Jaejoong felt his heart flutter in his chest.

“Are you really asking me about my sweaters?”

Jaejoong fidgeted his seat before he replied, “...I’m just curious.” He swallowed hard and smiled, “I liked them.”

“…you did?”

“Yes, I did.”

Yunho laughed, and Jaejoong stared at him worriedly. “Maybe I should wear one of them tomorrow?” Yunho asked, his smile widening with each passing second.

Jaejoong stared down at the table shyly, “I don’t know…it’s up to you.”

Yunho stood up, “I have to go to my last class now. I’ll keep your words in mind Jaejoong.”
o-o-o
The next day, Yunho was wearing an ugly purple sweater.

Everyone was displeased with his fashion choice except for Jaejoong.
o-o-o
“…is it bad that I’m hoping Yunho will get injured?” Jaejoong asked as he tapped his pen idly on the surface of his desk, “I mean…nothing too serious, but maybe a bruise or something.”

Yoochun stared at Jaejoong blankly, “I thought you said you had something important to talk to me about.”

“That was it!” Jaejoong said as he looked up, “So, what do you think -“

“Jesus Christ Jaejoong, I could be watching my boyfriend, the sexy Geometry teacher get all sweaty on the basketball court, but instead you called me here to listen to you complain about how you lack your own sexy teacher boyfriend?”

Jaejoong blinked.

“Yes?”

Yoochun shook his head disapprovingly and turned away, “Yeah, okay, I’m leaving now. Save me your delusions for later, after Changmin and I have had sex -“

“Guh, gross,” Jaejoong muttered, but just as Yoochun was about to leave, Jaejoong balled up an old sheet of paper and tossed it at Yoochun’s head, “Oh! I have one more important question.”

The music teacher turned around and shot Jaejoong an uninterested stare, “While I highly doubt that this question is any more important than the last one, I’ll humor you anyway. What is it?”

“…am I prettier than Taemin?”

Yoochun stared, shook his head, and just as he was about to exit, the clinic door opened. In came Yunho and Changmin, and Jaejoong’s eyes widened at the sight of Yunho’s bleeding nose.

“What - what happened?” Jaejoong said as he left his desk to look over at Yunho, who was trying to plaster a smile on his face.

Changmin shrugged and wiped off the sweat on his forehead, “Things got a little rough, and Yunho got hit by one of the other teachers accidentally and fell.”

Jaejoong looked at Yunho worriedly and began examining him carefully to make sure his nose wasn’t broken. His heart pounded in his chest as he touched Yunho carefully, and after making sure that Yunho was alright, he turned his head and finally noticed that both Changmin and Yoochun had left.

“Where did they go?”

Yunho touched his nose and winced, “Changmin told me they had a date after the faculty basketball game, so they probably left.” He looked up at Jaejoong innocently and blinked, “Will I be okay?”

“…yeah, you’ll be okay.” Jaejoong mumbled softly as he began to treat Yunho’s injury slowly, “Your nose isn’t actually broken, but you do have a gash of some kind. Did you hit anything in particular -“

“I think I hit the hoop,” Yunho answered, “I don’t really remember.”

Jaejoong walked away to throw away the cotton then the door suddenly opened. Both men turned their heads, and Taemin was standing at the door. At the sight of him, Jaejoong wanted to throw a bottle of alcohol at him and tell him to get out, but he couldn’t.

“Are you okay Mr. Jung?” Taemin asked worriedly as he walked over to the bed chair where Yunho was seated, “I saw that fall you took, and you were bleeding! I was so worried, and -“

“He’s fine,” Jaejoong said as he came over with a band aid, “Isn’t it dismissal already? I think you should probably go home-“

Yunho sat still as Jaejoong placed it on, “Oh, Taemin and a few others are in the Chemistry remedial class -“

“I bet he’s failing on purpose,” Jaejoong said under his breath, and Yunho blinked up at him in confusion.

“What did you say?”

Jaejoong faked a kind smile and stepped away, “Nothing. I just said that it’s nice that I have some purpose around here.” He turned away, glared at Taemin, and walked back to his desk, “I like treating people and making them feel better.”

“Taemin, I’ll meet you at the classroom,” Yunho said as he stood up, and when Jaejoong turned around, the Chemistry teacher was only a few steps away from him. He turned his eyes and watched as Taemin left, and when they were completely alone, he could feel his heart pounding in his ears.

Jaejoong fidgeted nervously, “…do you feel ill?”

“Uhm…” Yunho looked down at the ground before he lifted his eyes to look at Jaejoong seriously, “I…know this out of the blue…but I don’t know if there’ll ever be a right time, so…I just wanted to know if you…because, you know, Changmin and Yoochun told me that…”

“…told you what?”

Yunho cleared his throat and looked at Jaejoong nervously, “I have never asked this to anyone, and please, I hope you don’t think I’m arrogant or anything -“

“What is it?” Jaejoong asked, fairly sure he knew what Yunho was going to ask.

The handsome Chemistry teacher bit his lip, “…do you like me? I know this may sound juvenile, but by like I mean, like like, not just…like -“

“…you know so little about Chemistry,” Jaejoong said as he covered his face with his hands in both frustration and embarrassment. “Oh God, I don’t know how you got your degree. You’re so dense!”

Yunho shuffled, “…I’m sorry, I should go -“

Jaejoong’s hands fell to his sides, “You are an idiot! Of course I like you! Even though everyone hates your sweaters, I genuinely like them because you’re wearing them, and you seem so happy wearing them, and for God’s sake -“

“…I like you too,” Yunho mumbled, but Jaejoong was too pre-occupied with his rant to listen to what had come out of Yunho’s mouth.

“Even though I find Chemistry really boring, I still agreed to be one of the faculty participants in your field trip because I thought we’d be riding in the bus together! But no, instead I had to sit in the back! I was so annoyed! I thought I’d be able to fake sleep and lean on your shoulder -“

“Jaejoong -“

“Have I mentioned that you still owe me lunch? You said we’d have lunch together, but have we been spending lunch together? No, because you keep spending time with Taemin! You know what, I bet Taemin’s purposefully failing your subject in the hopes that you’ll take advantage of him during one of your remedial sessions -“

“Jaejoong -“

“Why does he get to be taken advantage of? I want you to take advantage of me! I want you to throw me against one of the clinic beds and ravage me like in that book I borrowed from one of my sisters! Do you know how many times I’ve had that stupid dream? You make me feel like some hormonal teenager all over again! Jesus Christ Yunho, did you really think I would say that I didn’t like you? For someone with a really high IQ, you’re really stupid -“

Jaejoong was cut off mid-rant by Yunho pressing his lips against his. The school nurse froze in shock, and just a few seconds after he’d begun to respond to Yunho’s kiss, Yunho pulled away.

“…you talk too much,” Yunho muttered, his face flaming red.

Jaejoong swallowed hard, “…I know.”

“But it’s okay, because I like you,” Yunho continued, “…but now I have to go because I need to go teach my remedial class.”

“…okay.”

The two faculty members stared at each other, and Jaejoong fidgeted. He looked up at Yunho in embarrassment, “…dinner? Later?”

“Okay.”

Just as Yunho was about to leave the room, he turned around. He was still blushing, and Jaejoong raised an eyebrow.

“What -“

“I always tell my students to avoid going to the clinic unless it’s really important…” Yunho cleared his throat nervously, and Jaejoong swooned at the adorable action. “I know most of them skip class to stare at you…but I’ll have to do the same, not skip class I mean, but…I should see you more often.”

A pleased smile crossed Jaejoong’s face and when he winked at Yunho, the Chemistry teacher’s face turned even redder, “You’re welcome here any time.” He watched Yunho leave, and as soon as the Chemistry teacher was out the door, Jaejoong sat down to fix his clinic records.

He smiled happily to himself for a few seconds before a stray thought crossed his mind.

As much as he liked Yunho and his sweaters, would he like what was under them just as much he liked the Chemistry teacher himself? Jaejoong blushed and patted his cheeks, trying to get the image of a shirtless Yunho out of his head so that he could try to go back to fix his papers.

If only it was part of his job description to do medical exams on staff! Jaejoong sighed but cheered himself on - he’d see Jung Yunho’s shirtless chest someday. After all, didn’t most teachers say that hard work paid off?

Jaejoong’s grinned wickedly to himself and approached his work with newfound vigor.

Lee Taemin didn’t stand a chance - only his Jung Yunho fantasies would be coming true, and he’d make sure of that.
