“Who is that?”
Yoochun looked up from his book and glanced at Jaejoong, who was obviously gawking at someone a few desks away from them. He frowned at his best friend and shrugged nonchalantly, “I don’t know. Who are you talking about?”
“The guy in a red Lacoste polo shirt,” Jaejoong said as he sat down next to Yoochun, his eyes still fixated on the guy sitting across Changmin, “The guy that your boyfriend is currently hitting on -“
Yoochun swatted Jaejoong, “Changmin is his friend and tutor, nothing more.”
Jaejoong rolled his eyes, “Tutor, sex friend, it’s all the same. Face it Chunnie, that guy’s got you beat with his mile long legs -“
“I’ll ignore the first thing you said, but I can’t believe you somehow managed to check out his legs in the one minute you’ve been in the library -“
“I like beautiful things -“
“You pervert.”
Jaejoong sighed dreamily and rested his chin against the palm of his hand, “I like him, and Changmin doesn’t stand a chance.”
Yoochun rolled his eyes, “Changmin’s not interested -“
“Why? Because he’s dating you?” Jaejoong scoffed, “I know we’re best friends and all Yoochun, but if I were Changmin and I had to choose between you and that guy, I don’t think I’d choose you.”
Yoochun flipped off his best friend, “I’m very good looking, just in case you haven’t noticed.”
“Nope, haven’t noticed, I’m sorry,” Jaejoong teased, “It’s hard to find the attractive individual you are underneath all that grease -“
“Bitch.”
Jaejoong laughed, “Now come on, don’t be like that. I was only teasing. You know I love you and Changmin together, but seriously, that dude is really hot and I…”
“And you what?” Yoochun asked as he turned back to his notes and proceeded to highlight a strip of text, “You can’t exactly try to get him to notice you. Whenever you try to act sexy, I usually just want to facepalm -“
“I wish I could eat in the library,” Jaejoong grumbled, “All I’d need is a lollipop or a popsicle and then that guy would totally be looking over here -“
“What if he’s not gay?”
Jaejoong rolled his eyes, “If he’s hanging out with Changmin, he is. In fact, the two of them are probably sharing how to top tips rather than notes.”
“I never knew you could be this stupid,” Yoochun said with a shrug as he flipped the page of his notebook, “You’ve really reached another level of crazy today. Congratulations on that Jaejoong.”
“I’m going to walk past them, and he’s going to notice me,” Jaejoong said confidently as he sat up a little straighter and grinned, “He’ll eye my ass, bend me over a table, and we’ll get it on despite the librarians’ protests -“
Yoochun stared at his best friend in worry, “How many pills did you take?”
“I only take confidence pills,” Jaejoong said confidently as he stood up and pushed his chair back. He looked at Yoochun and grinned, “Wish me luck?”
“Yeah, you’ll need it.”
Jaejoong rolled his eyes and walked away from their table to head over to where Changmin and his friend were. He walked slowly, making sure to exaggerate the movement of his hips, but just as he was only a few feet away, he tripped on a chair leg and fell onto the floor.
He picked himself up immediately, and when he looked up, both Changmin and his friend were looking at him.
An evil look was on Changmin’s face, “You okay there Jaejoong?” he asked, his voice filled with his usual annoying know-it-all tone.
Jaejoong turned bright red, nodded and bolted to the bookshelves for sanctuary. He waited for a few minutes before he headed back to his table with Yoochun and sat down, pretending like nothing had ever happened.
“So…” Yoochun said slowly, an amused smile on his face, “What was that? Was that supposed to be sexy? In my opinion, you looked more like a drunk caterpillar ready to mate rather than a fierce -“
Jaejoong buried his face into his book and clamped his hands over his ears, “Fuck off.”
o-o-o
As soon as Changmin’s friend had gone to the bathroom, Changmin stood up and walked over to where they were. Jaejoong shrunk into his seat, and he gagged when Changmin leaned down to kiss Yoochun.
“How gross,” Jaejoong muttered childishly as he drummed his fingers on the table’s surface idly, “There are other people in the library -“
“And I’m pretty sure those other people saw your rather ungraceful fall,” Changmin shot back, a smirk on his lips, “What was that exactly?”
“He’s got a crush on Yunho,” Yoochun said with a pitiful look sent in Jaejoong’s direction, “It’s all sorts of sad really -“
Jaejoong shot up and pointed a finger at Yoochun, “Hey! You didn’t say that you knew his name!”
“Yoochun didn’t want to feed your obsessive behavior, but yes his name is Yunho - Jung Yunho,” Changmin piped in as he scanned Yoochun’s notebook, “No wonder you were acting so weird when you tried to come over -“
“It’s not obsessive behavior -“
“Knowing you, it probably is -“
Yoochun cleared his throat and glanced at the two of them, “Children, stop fighting.”
“We’re not fighting, your boyfriend’s just being a dickhead,” Jaejoong growled as he glared at Changmin. He picked up Yoochun’s pencil and tossed it at Changmin’s head, hitting the taller student’s nose, “Douche.”
“Look who’s speaking -“
“Changmin, Yunho’s back at your table.”
Jaejoong took his eyes off Changmin and glanced over to where the latter had been sitting previously. Yunho was looking at them, and he froze when he realized that Yunho was looking at him.
The other student’s hair was adorably mussed; he had a mole above his upper lip, his shirt fit so nicely -
Changmin waved his hand in front of Jaejoong’s face and interrupted his gawking session. Jaejoong narrowed his eyes, but Changmin rolled his eyes and ignored the glare.
“Anyway, I’m heading back now, bye Yoochun.”
Jaejoong huffed, “What now?”
Yoochun handed Jaejoong a book, “You could do what you’re supposed to do in a library…read.”
“Boring,” Jaejoong muttered as he took Yoochun’s math worksheet and skimmed it. He looked over the problems, and as his eyes took in all the numbers, a sudden idea popped into his mind.
“I have an idea!”
Yoochun put down his pen and sighed, “I honestly worry for you Jaejoong; I really do.”
o-o-o
““Okay, so when they stand up to get books, I’ll put the number on the desk,” Jaejoong explained after he’d finished writing down his phone number on a strip of paper he’d torn out of Yoochun’s math notebook, “He’ll call, and -“
Yoochun sighed, “And what if he just throws it away? Honestly Jaejoong, I don’t think any sane person is going to call some strange number.”
“It’s called faith Yoochun, faith.”
“No Jaejoong, I think this is called insanity.”
Jaejoong rolled his eyes, “I have nothing to lose. Even if he doesn’t call, my pride is still intact, and I’ll just find some other way to talk to him, but anyway, he’ll call me…maybe.”
He shook his doubts away and balled his fist, “I have confidence - and they left! Now’s my chance to leave my number!”
As soon as the two students had disappeared into the bookshelves, Jaejoong quickly made his way over to their table, making sure to not trip over any chair legs. He swerved past tables and desks, and he stopped as soon as he’d reached Changmin and Yunho’s table.
He let out a nervous breath and set down the piece of paper beside Yunho’s notebook. Jaejoong smiled, pleased with himself, until he realized that maybe Yunho wouldn’t notice the small slip of paper if it was positioned to be just beside his notebook.
Jaejoong frowned and picked up the paper. He scanned the desk to figure out where to place the paper, completely concentrated with the task at hand. After a minute or so, he finally decided to place it atop Yunho’s Physics textbook. He placed it down, smiled, and turned around - only to come straight into contact with Yunho.
Yunho blinked at him, and Jaejoong paled.
“Hi?” Yunho said slowly, his position in front of Jaejoong keeping the latter stuck in between the desk and Yunho’s body, rendering him incapable of trying to slip out of the awkward situation.
Jaejoong swallowed nervously, “Hi.”
Before Jaejoong could launch into a long, rambling speech, Yunho reached past him and picked up the note off his textbook. He read it in front of Jaejoong, and as soon as he was done, he looked up at the shorter male.
Jaejoong laughed nervously, “Well, you know, uhm, I should -“
Yunho held up the paper, “Is this your number?”
“Yes,” Jaejoong breathed out, his voice airy, “You can…uhm…call me…maybe? Sometime? If…if you want -“
Yunho chuckled, “Sure. You’re Kim Jaejoong, right? Changmin told me your name. It’s kind of hard to not notice you around campus, and I don’t mean that just because you fell earlier.”
Jaejoong blushed, unsure of what to say, “Uhm…”
“Oh yeah,” Yunho took out his phone and entered Jaejoong’s number. He miscalled Jaejoong’s number before he put his phone back into his pocket, “Now you have my number,” he said with a handsome smile, “So you can call me too…if you want.”
“Trust me, he most definitely wants to,” Changmin said offhandedly as he returned to his seat with his books. He glanced at Jaejoong, “Now please leave. Now that Yunho’s mission was a success, we need to study for our Physics -“
“What?”
Yunho blushed, “Uh…”
Changmin rolled his eyes, “Despite my warnings, Yunho thinks you’re cute. He noticed you because of your ridiculous blonde hair and because he wouldn’t shut up about you, I helped him out with this. Now please leave.”
Jaejoong smiled goofily and walked back to his seat. He sighed happily and looked at Yoochun, “He’s going to call me.”
“Yeah, okay, whatever,” Yoochun replied, although the smile at his lips was enough to tell Jaejoong that his best friend was happy for him. Jaejoong leaned back into his chair and smiled nervously when Yunho turned his head to look at him then waved.
He sighed dreamily once more and rested his chin on the palm of his hand, “He’s going to call me.”
Yoochun rolled his eyes, “So, are you going to study any time soon?”
Jaejoong shook his head and grinned when he noticed Changmin swatting Yunho with a book in order to get the other to stop looking back at him.
“Nope, not at all.”
He had much better things to do, and staring at Yunho was one of them.
