Title: For You
Pairing: Yunho/Jaejoong
Rating: PG-13
Genre: Romance, Drama, Angst
Summary: His life turned around the moment he met Yunho.

Jaejoong checked his calendar and was surprised when he realized that he’d been having lunch with Yunho almost daily for a month. He stared at the calendar in surprise, his fingers holding tightly onto the page.

As if on cue, his phone began to ring. He reached over his desk and checked the caller before he answered. He let out a breath and answered after he’d read Yunho’s name on the screen.

“Hi.”

“I can’t meet you for lunch today.” Yunho said irritably on the other end of the line. Jaejoong could hear the rustling of papers and indistinct chatter in the background, so he assumed that Yunho was busy. “A client of mine decided to extend our meeting.”

“That’s okay.” Jaejoong replied as he kept his gaze focused on the calendar, “By the way, have you noticed how often we’ve been having lunch together?”

“It’s not just lunch.” Yunho replied with a laugh, his voice sounding much happier than it had previously, “But I guess we do go out often. You don’t mind, do you?”

“No, I don’t.” Jaejoong felt like Yunho expected for him to say more, but he didn’t feel like saying anything other than that. He was somewhat sure that Yunho was interested in him romantically, but he was too petrified to actually begin displaying any return of interest in the other man.

He wanted his relationship with Yunho, whether at its current level or at any further stage, to mean more than the past flings he’d gotten himself into in childish attempts to spite his father, and he wasn’t sure if he knew how to be a good boyfriend or if he was even capable of being a good boyfriend.

“My client came back.” Yunho sighed, “I have to go. Do you want to go out sometime later in the afternoon? I could buy you a coffee or something.”

“Okay.”

“I’ll see you later then.”

“Bye.”

Jaejoong put his phone aside and began fixing his papers. He glanced at his watch after a few minutes of being idle and felt the urge to pace around his office. He couldn’t get back into his work, not when he felt so on edge.

He wanted to progress his relationship with Yunho, but the worries seemed to outweigh his feelings at every moment. He worried that he was lacking in too many aspects, and that he still needed to fix the pieces of himself before he’d ever be worthy to be with Yunho.

His thoughts were running through his head, and Jaejoong quickly decided that there was no way he’d be able to focus on work again. Jaejoong gathered his things and rushed out. He stopped by his boss’ office and told him a lie about not feeling well which the older man accepted without a second’s worth of doubt. The older man let Jaejoong leave early, and Jaejoong didn’t bother to say goodbye to any of his co-workers as he left the workplace.

A walk usually always calmed him, but as Jaejoong wandered the streets of Seoul, he couldn’t find himself feeling any more peaceful. Every single inch of him seemed to be tired of being idle, and he could feel the energy buzzing in his nerves.

The loud sound of his phone’s ringtone knocked him out of his reverie, and he quickly answered the phone.

“I don’t have a car today. Do you mind if we walk around?”

Jaejoong stopped in his tracks, “No, I don’t.” He looked around and was somewhat surprised that he’d ended up close to Yunho’s building. “Where do you want to meet?”

“I think I see you on the street.” Yunho said unsurely, and Jaejoong turned around. A chuckle later, and he caught sight of Yunho staring at him.

“I see you.”

Jaejoong hung up and made his way to Yunho, who had an amused smile on his handsome face. He rolled his eyes and stood awkwardly in front of the taller man, unsure of how to explain his wandering.

“Were you that excited to see me?” Yunho asked as his smile stretched a little wider.

Yes. Jaejoong shrugged and feigned his usual stoic demeanor, “Where do you want to get coffee?” he asked as he tried to change the topic. “I’m pretty sure we’ve been to every place close to here.”

Yunho glanced up at the overcast sky, “It looks like it’s going to rain.”

Jaejoong looked up, “I think you’re right.” When he tore his gaze away from the darkening sky, he caught sight of Yunho staring at him and blushed immediately.

“Do you want to have coffee at my apartment? I don’t live so far away from here.” Yunho suggested, and the way he was gazing at Jaejoong so openly and affectionately bothered the latter greatly, sending his heart aflutter and racing.

It seemed like Yunho was being more forward about his feelings, and Jaejoong wasn’t sure if he wanted to take that step with him. He stepped to the side and avoided a woman passing by as he tried to sort his thoughts out.

“If you -“

Jaejoong lifted his eyes off the sidewalk, “No, let’s go.” He was more than aware that Yunho was both surprised and pleased. He refused to let an adolescent blush rise to his cheeks because he was not in any way pleased that Yunho looked even more handsome when he smiled - especially when he was smiling because of him.

“You don’t mind walking?”

“If I walked here, I can walk farther.” Jaejoong replied as he began to walk alongside Yunho in the direction of the latter’s apartment. He refused to touch Yunho’s arm as they walked, he’d already done enough to encourage the other man’s affections. It was hard enough for him to move at their snail-like pace, and he didn’t think he could manage them moving any faster.

The walk was silent on his part, Yunho did most of the talking as usual and he was glad about that. He listened attentively and replied when necessary, but for the most part, he was simply content to listen to Yunho ramble on about clients and their infuriating habits.

He didn’t know how long it’d taken for them to reach Yunho’s apartment, but it had seemed like only a short while. They were standing outside of Yunho’s door and Jaejoong smiled as Yunho fumbled with his keys.

“Nervous?” he asked after Yunho had dropped them.

“A little.” Yunho replied, “I don’t really remember how clean my apartment is. I’m worried I left it in a terrible state.” He unlocked the door but didn’t open it immediately. He turned to face Jaejoong, “If it’s messy, don’t say anything?”

Jaejoong chuckled, “I won’t make any promises. Now open the door.”

Yunho opened the door and Jajeoong followed him in. It was rather dark, but he could tell that Yunho was right for being worried about a messy apartment. Jaejoong chuckled at the sight of numerous papers strewn across a glass coffee table and several mugs of coffee placed around the room.

“It’s terrible, isn’t it?” Yunho asked as he stood next to Jaejoong. He laughed and brushed his fingers against Jaejoong’s, successfully earning Jaejoong’s attention with the light touch. “I’ll clean it better next time. I didn’t think someone would be coming over today.”

“When was the last time you had someone over?” Jaejoong asked as he avoided several documents piled on the floor.

Yunho thought for a minute. “I’m not sure. Oh - wait, Changmin and I had a few drinks here last week.” He beckoned Jaejoong to follow him into the kitchen, and Jaejoong was glad to see that it was cleaner than the living room.

He took a seat on a kitchen stool and quietly watched Yunho maneuver around, taking out mugs for the two of them, creamer, milk, sugar, and everything they would need for their coffee.

“As you can see, it’s much cleaner here.” Yunho said with a smile as he prepared the coffee. “I avoid the kitchen at all times - I can barely cook. I usually eat out or order in, so I don’t really use anything aside from the coffee maker and the microwave.”

“Really?”

“I almost burned the apartment down the one time I tried to cook breakfast for myself, so out of concern for my neighbors’ safety and my own, I decided not to try again.”

“How could you live on your own without knowing how to cook?” Jaejong asked curiously with an amused look on his face, “I’m sure someone had to feed you. I doubt you survived on ramen until you got a job.”

“Trust me,” Yunho said as he set down a steaming mug of coffee in front of Jaejoong and leaned closer, “You don’t want me cooking for you.”

“I’ll cook for you then.” Jaejoong replied, the offer slipping out before he could rethink his words. He paused, gripped his mug a little tighter, and lifted his eyes off the dark liquid. “I’m a good cook, or so Changmin says.”

Yunho smiled, “You should cook for me sometime then. I’m not a picky eater, unlike Changmin. As long as it isn’t burnt, I’ll eat it.”

Jaejoong chuckled before he took a sip of his coffee, “At least your coffee’s good,” he said with a smile, “It’s much better than what we have in our office.”

“Speaking of offices,” Yunho glanced at the wall clock, “I think we should be getting back. It’s almost been an hour.”

“Oh, right.” Jaejoong realized he’d gotten a few messages, and he quickly browsed through to see if any of them were of interest.

He opened his father’s text message and was reminded that they were due for a meeting in the evening. The reminder dampened his spirits, but he quickly pushed the thoughts aside - Yunho didn’t deserve to deal with him in a foul mood after all the wonderful things he’d done for him.

Yunho finished his coffee rather quickly; surprising Jaejoong, whose mug was still half full. “I wish there’d been foam in the coffee.” He mused aloud, and Jaejoong raised an eyebrow.

“You watched Secret Garden, didn’t you?” Yunho asked, and Jaejoong couldn’t help but break out into laughter. Yunho frowned, “You didn’t find it the least bit cute?” he asked.

“It looked terribly awkward.”

“I’m sure you’d like it better if someone did it to you.”

“I wouldn’t -“

Before Jaejoong could get another word out, Yunho leaned across the counter and pressed his lips against Jaejoong’s. It lasted barely two seconds before he drew away and took both of their mugs to the sink.

“We should go now. Do you want me to call a taxi?”

Jaejoong licked his bottom lip and refused to say anything. He was sure that his face was redder than a tomato, and he was more embarrassed than anything. His heart was beating faster than he could’ve ever thought was possible, and he wanted to throw something at Yunho for making him feel so uneasy.

Yunho turned around, and Jaejoong noticed how shy and awkward he looked which was a contrast to how suave and collected he usually looked.

Maybe it’s not just me that feels this way. He stared at Yunho for a bit longer before he averted his eyes and coughed awkwardly, hoping that some of the tension would go away. He knew Yunho was waiting for something, for a go signal of some sort - anything to let him know that Jaejoong didn’t mind.

Jaejoong wished he had a mug to hold onto, he didn’t know what to do with his hands as he tried to think. “I think I’ll be late. I should go ahead.” He said hurriedly before he left the counter and slowly began to walk to the front door.

He could hear Yunho’s footsteps behind him, and Jaejoong couldn’t help but feel terrible for how the way he was treating him. As they neared the door, Jaejoong turned around and swallowed hard.

“I didn’t mind it.” He said quietly, as he stared down at the floor. “I’m sorry.”

“There’s nothing to be sorry about.”

Jaejoong looked up at him, “I like you, and if it helps, you’re more my type than Hyun Bin. I…” he blushed as a smile returned to Yunho’s face. “I’m sorry I’m so difficult to deal with.”

Yunho shook his head and opened the door for Jaejoong, “You’re not difficult.”

Jaejoong let go of his inhibitions and insecurities for a brief moment. He kissed Yunho, short and sweet, and felt a blush rise to his cheeks which only increased further when he realized Yunho was blushing as well.

They were standing so close to each other and smiling with awkward blushes, that it reminded Jaejoong of a scene from some kind of shoujo manga. It was like they were in high school and only discovering romance, and for some reason, Jaejoong didn’t mind the awkward blushing as much he had before.

Not as long as Yunho was doing it too.

Author’s Note: My muse is now unkind and being a bitch. I’m having a hard time putting my thoughts down lately. *sigh* I was actually supposed to update Distance instead of this, but the chapter file got corrupted. :\ Not to mention I’ve kind of lost inspiration for that story, I’m unsure of where to go next. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, and I’ll be sure to thank everyone for their ideas. About this story though, I wrote this chapter a while back, and I discovered it when I was looking through all my story files. XD I hope you all like it. Comments are loved, and thank you for reading! ♥
