Summary: Jung Yunho was supposed to be the mysterious, indifferent, student council president. While he’d never stolen any minute of Kim Jaejoong’s attention before, he certainly was now.
“You know how you said you just got back this morning?” Jaejoong asked as he looked at Yunho’s front door from the gate, “Well, I was really happy when I heard you arrived home safely.”
There was a lull in the conversation as Yunho fell silent on the other end of the line, and after a few seconds, he finally replied to Jaejoong, “Don’t tell me you cut classes to see me early. I told you I’d pick you up from school -”
“I really missed you.”
Yunho sighed audibly, “Are you at the gate?”
“Kind of,” Jaejoong muttered as he kicked at the gate weakly. He shuffled his feet and glanced down at the sidewalk. “It’s not like we were really doing anything at school. I faked sick by the way, so it’s not really cutting classes since they allowed me to go home.”
“Yeah, okay, whatever.”
Yunho hung up, and Jaejoong slid his phone into his pocket. He leaned against the gate, and as soon as he saw the door open, he immediately perked up. Yunho jogged down the steps and slowed down as he reached the gate.
Jaejoong bit his lip and tilted his head, “Did you miss me?” He questioned before he tugged on a strand of his hair. “I grew my hair out a bit longer since I know you like it long.”
Yunho pulled the gate open, “Of course I missed you.” He crossed his arms and sighed at Jaejoong. “I really don’t know what I’m supposed to do with you. Why did you fake sick? We made plans to meet after school.”
Jaejoong rolled his eyes, “I know.” He pouted, “I just wanted to see you sooner.”
“My parents left a while ago and there’s no food at home,” Yunho explained as he led Jaejoong away from the front door and to the garage. He glanced back at Jaejoong who trailed behind him. “Do you want to eat out?”
“As long as you’re paying,” Jaejoong replied with a playful smile as he reached out and intertwined his fingers with Yunho’s. He looked up at him, “Belated happy birthday by the way.”
“Same to you,” Yunho murmured before he leaned down and finally kissed Jaejoong on the lips. He pulled away immediately and pulled a car key out of his pocket as soon as they entered the garage.
Jaejoong looked around, “Will it really be okay with your father if we go out and eat? I mean, my parents don’t like me taking their car out to drive at all, are you sure your father’s going to be okay with you -”
“It’ll be fine since it’s my car anyway,” Yunho replied dismissively as he led Jaejoong to the silver car that was parked at the entrance of the garage. Jaejoong let Yunho pull him and as soon as they were right beside it, he let out a small gasp.
“It’s a fucking Audi.”
Jaejoong clutched Yunho’s hand tighter as he glanced at him for affirmation, “Yunho, your parents bought you an Audi for your birthday?”
Yunho glanced at him, “Well, it’s second hand -“
“They bought you a car!” Jaejoong shoved Yunho away and crossed his arms. He pouted at Yunho childishly, “Oh God, all my parents bought were clothes and my present must look so stupid compared to what your parents gave you -“
“Don’t be stupid. I love your gift.”
Jaejoong frowned, “Excuse me? You’re the stupid one in this relationship.”
Yunho tilted his head and crossed his arms, “No, I’m pretty sure you got branded as the stupid from day one of this relationship.” He laughed at Jaejoong’s irritated expression and opened the passenger’s seat, “Do you want to get in now?”
“No, I hate you.”
Yunho closed the door, “I hate you too.”
“Let’s break up.”
“Okay.”
They stared at each other for a few seconds, and Jaejoong scowled before he opened the car door and let himself in. He buckled his seatbelt and glanced at Yunho, who was looking at him in amusement.
Jaejoong rolled down the car window, “I’m fucking hungry, let’s go.”
“Do you love me?” Yunho asked, a smile on his face.
Jaejoong glanced at him, “What kind of question is that?” He huffed and rolled his eyes at Yunho, “Of course I do. I love you Jung Yunho, you sick bastard, now let’s go.”
Yunho poked his head through the car window and kissed Jaejoong before he pulled away and went over to the driver’s seat. As soon as he was inside the car, Jaejoong punched him on the shoulder.
“What was that for?”
Jaejoong scowled at him, “I hate you.” He huffed and turned his eyes away to the car window. As soon as they were out of Yunho’s neighborhood, Jaejoong muttered, “I really missed you. I’m happy you’re back.”
He glanced at Yunho and Yunho chuckled, “I missed you too.” Jaejoong smiled at him, and Yunho added, “I missed your noise.”
Jaejoong scowled and punched him on the shoulder.
He didn’t care if it was unsafe to be punching the designated driver; he needed to punch his boyfriend whenever he was being a prick.

“Do you know how boring it’s been without you?” Jaejoong asked as he fiddled with his chopsticks. He tapped them on his bowl, “You missed almost a month of school, and we’re graduating soon.”
“I didn’t miss a month,” Yunho insisted. “It’s not my fault anyway. I was back for around two weeks, remember? It’s not my fault I got chosen and sent back to Japan for that learning program thing -“
“You already know Japanese, I don’t see why they sent you,” Jaejoong muttered as he stole some food from Yunho’s bowl. He chewed and frowned, “Do you know how boring the prom committee meetings are?”
“You got assigned to the prom committee?” Yunho asked with a laugh. His grin widened and he took some pork away from Jaejoong, “Did Changmin send you there?”
“No, I got recruited,” Jaejoong answered as he battled Yunho’s chopsticks away so that he couldn’t get more meat. He stuck his tongue out immaturely before he continued speaking, “I couldn’t say no because the other committees were already full.”
“You don’t like prom?” Yunho questioned thoughtfully as he took a sip of his Coke and blinked at Jaejoong.
Jaejoong shook his head, “I didn’t go last year, and I don’t have any plans of going this year. It’s a boring ritual, and I see no point in spending money on a suit and other fancy things just to be bored.”
“You’re on the prom committee though.”
“Yeah, but it’s not mandatory for me to go,” Jaejoong answered. He straightened up and looked at Yunho. He perked up, “Hey, why don’t we do something else instead? Why don’t we go out of town?”
Yunho shrugged, “I don’t know. I’ll think about it.”
Jaejoong pouted, “It’d be fun. I’d rope Yoochun into going along, and I’m sure Changmin wouldn’t want to go to prom. He’s been complaining about how he hates the need to dress up.”
“I’ll think about it.”
“Alright then,” Jaejoong said with a smile as he finished the last of his food. He watched Yunho carefully and tilted his head, “Are you okay?”
Yunho looked up at him, “What?”
“I don’t know…you don’t seem very into things,” Jaejoong commented with a frown as he watched Yunho, “Is there something wrong? Do you want to go to prom?”
Yunho rolled his eyes, “No, there’s nothing wrong.” He shot Jaejoong a look and leaned back in his chair, “Why would I be upset about you not going to prom? Really Jaejoong, you place too much worth on your self -“
Jaejoong placed bills on the table, “You know you love me.” He smiled widely, “There were some really cute prom proposals though, if I do say so myself.” He sighed dreamily and chuckled, “I’ve always kind of hoped someone would ask me in a really romantic fashion.”
Yunho rolled his eyes, “I knew this topic would somehow go back to you.”
Jaejoong frowned and stuck his tongue out at Yunho, “You’re just an unfeeling robot, so you wouldn’t understand.” He pulled at a strand of his hair, “Anyway, I want to go somewhere. Are you done eating?”
Yunho nodded, “Where do you want to go?”
“It’s a secret,” Jaejoong said with a smile as he pulled Yunho out of his seat and led him out of the restaurant.
o-o-o
Yunho stared at the photo booth and glanced at Jaejoong who smiling excitedly next to him. “You can’t be serious.”
“I am!” Jaejoong replied as he tugged at the sleeve of Yunho’s jacket childishly. He smiled at him widely and pulled him in before he forced Yunho down onto the seat. He climbed onto Yunho’s lap and ran his hands through his hair.
Yunho laughed, “If you wanted to make out, we could’ve just gone back to my house you know.”
Jaejoong pressed a soft kiss to Yunho’s jaw, “I want us to have pictures together.” He murmured as he wrapped his arms around Yunho’s neck, “We don’t have any pictures together. I just want something special.”
He bit his lip and looked at Yunho, “You don’t mind, do you?”
“I don’t,” Yunho replied as he tilted his face upwards to kiss Jaejoong. He settled his hands at the other student’s waist and smiled, “If you don’t get off me though, then we’re never going to take that picture.”
“I rather like it on your lap,” Jaejoong flirted with an even wider grin. He grinded his lower body against Yunho’s and chuckled, “Why don’t we take the picture like this?”
“No thanks,” Yunho pushed Jaejoong off his lap and inserted money into the machine.
Jaejoong moved closer to Yunho and rested his head against the latter’s shoulder. He waited, and it wasn’t much longer until Yunho leaned back. He glanced at Jaejoong and back at the monitor, “What do we do now?”
“Pose?” Jaejoong offered.
Yunho rolled his eyes, “If you expect me to do some cutesy pose that involves a peace sign and a wink then I’m going to get out of here -“
Jaejoong pulled the collar of Yunho’s shirt and shouted loudly in time with the monitor’s countdown, “Smile!”
There was a bright flash, and the countdown restarted. After two more camera flashes and two more poses - one of which involved Jaejoong pulling at Yunho’s hair, they waited for the last flash.
Jaejoong looked at Yunho, “It’s the last one, so we should make it nice.”
Yunho glanced at him, “What should we do then?”
“This.”
Jaejoong pulled Yunho towards him gently and pressed their lips together for a kiss. The camera flash resounded in the booth, but Yunho deepened the kiss before Jaejoong could pull away.
Jaejoong’s eyes fluttered shut, and he moved back submissively as Yunho cornered him against the wall of the photo booth. A tiny whimper escaped his mouth as Yunho’s mouth trailed downward and attacked his neck, biting and sucking roughly against the sensitive skin.
His hands found their way to Yunho’s hair, and he fumbled as Yunho pressed him against the wall even harder. Their bodies were positioned awkwardly, him almost falling off the seat while Yunho climbed over him, but he couldn’t really bring to care.
Yunho’s lips were soon back over his, and Jaejoong let out a noise of pleasure. He loved the way Yunho was in love with him, and it made his heart flutter whenever Yunho touched him.
“I love you,” Jaejoong whispered as Yunho pulled away from him briefly. Their eyes met, and Yunho stared at him with a face of equal seriousness, although it was a bit difficult since his hair was so mussed up.
Yunho’s lips tilted upwards into a smile, “I love you too.”
Jaejoong’s heart fluttered, and he pressed a soft kiss to Yunho’s lips before he pushed him off lightly. He reached out and pulled the pictures, handing one to Yunho and keeping one for himself.
They both looked at the pictures, and Yunho spoke first.
“We look like idiots.”
Jaejoong looked up at him and replied lamely, “Idiots in love?”
“No, just idiots,” Yunho said as he placed the pictures in his wallet.
For the second time in the day, Jaejoong punched Yunho.
o-o-o
“Why are you hanging out with me instead of Yunho?” Yoochun asked as he chewed his sandwich. He yawned and leaned against the tree behind them, “Usually you spend your lunch periods with him.”
“Yunho’s taking a test,” Jaejoong replied as he handed Yoochun some of his own lunch. He glanced at his best friend, “Hey, when I was out with Yunho yesterday, I came up with the most brilliant idea.”
“What is it?” Yoochun drawled lazily, “It better not be like the one in which you suggested that we learn how to surf.”
“Shut up,” Jaejoong growled before he perked up, “Anyway, I suggested that all of us go out of town during prom weekend. Let’s do a road trip or something. Besides, Yunho has a car, so we can -“
“What the fuck are you talking about?”
Jaejoong frowned, “What do you mean?”
“Yunho’s going to prom you dumbass,” Yoochun said bluntly as he threw a piece of his sandwich at Jaejoong’s head. He rolled his eyes, “Sometimes I wonder where your brain is. You’ve been going to this school for four years, but you’re still stupid -“
Jaejoong straightened up, “What do you mean Yunho’s going to prom? I told him I didn’t want to go.”
“It’s mandatory for student officers to go to prom,” Yoochun said slowly, talking to Jaejoong as if he were a child. “Besides, Yunho has a really good chance of being elected as Prom King this year. He was Prom Prince last year.”
“Yunho never told me he had to go,” Jaejoong said slowly with a frown, “I mean…oh God, I must have seemed like an idiot. No wonder he seemed kind of irritated with me, he probably wanted me to go -“
“You are an idiot,” Yoochun repeated as he finished the rest of his sandwich and threw the wrapper at Jaejoong’s head. He brushed the crumbs off his hands and glanced at Jaejoong, “Besides, it’s a good thing you’re not going anyway.”
“Why?”
“Ara’s probably going to be elected as Prom Queen and usually -“
Jaejoong was off and running in the direction of the main building before Yoochun could finish his sentence.
o-o-o
Unfortunately, he’d been unable to catch Yunho before lunch ended. Jaejoong made his way to the student council office and was there before anyone else. He waited for a few minutes, but after a couple of people had arrived, Yunho was still nowhere to be found.
As soon as Changmin came in, he got off his seat and quickly cornered him.
“What are you doing?” Changmin asked with a scowl as he pushed Jaejoong away so that he could make his way to his usual desk. Jaejoong trailed after him, and he glared at him, “What do you want?”
“Has Yunho talked to you about -“
“Prom?” Changmin questioned with a raise of his eyebrow. “Yes, he told me that you have no interest in going even though you’re in the prom committee and have helped in planning it which I find to be highly ironic.”
“Was he angry about it?” Jaejoong asked, ignoring the last of Changmin’s answer. He crossed his arms and looked at him carefully, “Did he say anything about -“
“No, Yunho does not have any plans of asking you.”
Jaejoong blinked, “What?”
“You’re so slow,” Changmin remarked as he took a folder off the desk and began to make his way out of the student council office. Jaejoong followed, and as soon as they were out in the hallway, the vice president turned to face him. “Why aren’t you talking to Yunho about this?”
“I don’t know how to talk to him about it!”
“I’m not surprised,” Changmin said before he turned away. Jaejoong ran after him and struggled to keep up. Changmin rolled his eyes, “Do you want to go to prom?”
“…I’d go for Yunho,” Jaejoong said slowly, “I mean, he’s my boyfriend so…I’d go if he wanted me to. He seemed a bit irritated when I didn’t want to go, and I really don’t see why he didn’t try convincing me to go -“
“Yunho doesn’t like convincing people to do anything because he doesn’t like arguing if ever people don’t agree, and he doesn’t like telling people what they should do or think because he doesn’t like people telling him what to do or think,” Changmin interrupted as he handed Jaejoong the folder. “I also think that Yunho didn’t bother to convince you because you’re stubborn.”
“I’m not stubborn,” Jaejoong muttered as he glanced down at the folder. He raised his eyes and looked at Changmin, “What’s this?”
“While Yunho doesn’t like telling people what to do, I don’t mind doing so. Take that folder and give it to Mr. Kim,” Changmin ordered before he turned away and walked back to the student council office. He turned before he entered and glanced at Jaejoong, “Wait, so you’d go to prom if Yunho wanted you to?”
“Yeah.”
“I see,” Changmin replied before he entered the student council office and left Jaejoong alone in the corridor.
Jaejoong sighed and just as he’d started making his way to the faculty room, his phone buzzed. He pulled it out of his pocket, and the message was from Yunho.
I can’t take you home today, I’m taking the tests I’ve missed. Sorry.
Jaejoong quickly texted him back.
Okay. Can you take me to school tomorrow though? :3
As he rounded the corner, he received Yunho’s text.
No.
Jaejoong frowned and asked why. He glanced at his phone anxiously, waiting for Yunho’s reply, and it came a few moments later.
I’m not feeling well. I won’t go to school.
Something about Yunho’s text bothered Jaejoong, so he texted him back.
Are you angry at me about prom? :( If you want me to go, then I’ll go. D: I don’t want you mad at me.
Yunho never replied.
o-o-o
Jaejoong usually arrived at school on time, but he’d woken up late and as a result he’d gotten to school late. Yunho hadn’t replied to any of his texts, and he hadn’t picked up any of his calls either. When Jaejoong had passed by Yunho’s classroom, Yunho hadn’t been there
By lunch time, he’d felt like he was about to go crazy. He darted out of his classroom and immediately sought Changmin’s company.
“Where’s Yunho?” Jaejoong questioned as he stormed into the student council office with a bored Yoochun following behind him. He approached Changmin and set down a pack of cookies, “Is he that mad?”
“Yunho’s absent,” Changmin said as he took the cookies. He glanced at Yoochun, “Why are you here?”
Yoochun shrugged, “I didn’t want Jaejoong to do anything stupid.”
“I’m going to his house -“
“You can’t. There’s a meeting this afternoon, and Mr. Kim’s going to be there. Your attendance is required,” Changmin cut in as he took out a cookie and handed one to Yoochun.
“But Yunho -“
“He’ll be fine,” Yoochun interrupted as he nibbled at the cookie, “Give him a day or so to sort out whatever it is that he’s feeling. If you just go ahead and bother him, you’re just going to irritate him.”
“I don’t want him to be upset,” Jaejoong muttered, “God, why is he acting like such an idiot? We could’ve just talked about it normally if he wasn’t so damn secretive all the time and such a dumbass -“
Jaejoong rushed out of the classroom, making sure to slam the door shut as he exited, and left Yoochun with Changmin. Yoochun pulled a chair and sat across from Changmin before he slowly began to take his food out of his paper bag.
“Yunho’s not really upset, is he?” Yoochun asked lightly as he set down his sandwich and began to unwrap it. He took one bite and chewed thoughtfully, “I wouldn’t think that he’d be so upset over something so trivial.”
“He’s not upset,” Changmin said as he ate, “Jaejoong’s just being stupid again. I told him that Yunho wasn’t angry, but he can’t seem to take that idea out of his head.”
“Yunho’s planning on asking Jaejoong to prom, isn’t he?” Yoochun asked.
Changmin raised his eyes, “How did you know?”
“I had a feeling. I wouldn’t think that Yunho would just let Jaejoong not go to prom. Besides, I’m sure he knows that Jaejoong’s a romantic sap and that asking him to prom would be the best way to completely convince him to go.”
“I need you to make sure Jaejoong doesn’t go home early today, so make sure he attends the meeting this afternoon.”
Yoochun blinked, “Yunho’s asking him today? I didn’t expect him to ask so soon. He just got back, right?”
“Well, when it comes to Jaejoong, Yunho can’t be stopped,” Changmin said with a shrug, “He likes him too much, and he’s determined to have Jaejoong go to prom with him even if it’s in secret.”
“Why would Yunho pretend to be mad at Jaejoong though?”
“So that Jaejoong would be too distracted to even consider the possibility that Yunho would be asking him to prom.”
“I see,” Yoochun laughed, “You probably suggested it, didn’t you? I know you like messing with Jaejoong’s head.”
“I may have suggested it,” Changmin replied, “Yunho was the one who agreed to it though, so I can’t be blamed for what’s going on right now.”
Yoochun laughed, and the two ate in peace. After a few minutes, a sudden idea came into Yoochun’s mind.
“I don’t think Jaejoong is even considering the possibility that Ara’s probably going to be elected as Prom Queen though,” Yoochun commented thoughtfully, “He’s going to pop a nerve when she and Yunho dance together.”
Changmin was silent for a few minutes before he replied.
“I am not going to be the one restraining Jaejoong. You’ll have to do it.”
“We can lock him in the bathroom,” Yoochun suggested.
“Okay.”
The two shook hands and returned to eating their lunches.
o-o-o
“That meeting was absolutely retarded,” Jaejoong whined as soon as he came out of the student council office. “I had to sit through their discussion of the dress code, attendance taking, decoration matters, and other stupid things. It’s so late now -“
“Could we go back to the music room?” Yoochun asked as he glanced at his bag, “I think I forgot something -“
“Are you serious?” Jaejoong frowned at his best friend before he glanced at his watch in dismay, “It’s so late, and I wanted to go to Yunho’s house -“
“Please?”
Jaejoong sighed, “Okay, let’s go.” He followed Yoochun down the corridor, but it was after they’d passed a few classrooms that he realized that Yoochun wasn’t leading him in the direction of the music room.
“Hey, Yoochun where are we -“
A blindfold was suddenly placed over his eyes, and Jaejoong jerked back in surprise. He flailed, and he was fairly sure that he hit someone in the face. “What the fuck are you doing? Get off me!”
“Just behave, okay Jaejoong?” Yoochun muttered as he took hold of Jaejoong’s waist and began to pull him in a particular direction, “You already hit me in the face, so just stop with the flailing already.”
“I can’t see!”
“Of course you can’t, you have a blindfold over your eyes,” Changmin muttered from Jaejoong’s right, “If you could see through it, then I’d be amazed.”
“What the fuck is going on?”
“Just shut up,” Changmin ordered, and Jaejoong complied.
He fell silent, and he quietly followed the directions that Changmin and Yoochun gave him. He walked slowly and then he suddenly heard the sound of a car engine starting.
“Get in the car.”
Jaejoong got in, and as soon as he was inside, he asked, “Where are we going?”
“It’s a secret,” Yoochun replied excitedly, “We’ll be there soon though.”
The car drive was mostly silent aside from the songs playing from the car radio and the irritated comments Jaejoong received whenever he attempted to take the blindfold off. As soon as the car stopped, he was ushered out and led somewhere.
“Where are we?”
“Stop asking questions.”
Jaejoong huffed, but he complied with all the directions given to him. He went up stairs and after a couple of steps, he was told to stop walking.
“Where are we -“
Before he could finish his sentence, the blindfold was removed, and Jaejoong’s mouth fell open.
The small football field near Yunho’s home had been decorated with bright Christmas lights, and the lights spelled out eight words.
Jaejoong, will you go to prom with me?
“Holy fuck.”
The football field’s floodlights turned on, and Yunho stood at the center of the field with a megaphone and a huge bouquet of flowers. He raised the megaphone to his lips, and he asked, “Jaejoong, will you go to prom with me?”
Jaejoong bit his lip hard and felt his cheeks heat up. His eyes got slightly teary, but he didn’t cry. He ran past Yoochun and Changmin and ran down the bleachers, heading straight for Yunho.
He collided against Yunho, making his boyfriend drop the flowers and the megaphone in surprise. Yunho’s arms wrapped around him tightly, and Jaejoong buried his face into Yunho’s chest.
“You’re such a fucking idiot!”
Yunho chuckled as he steadied the two of them, “Was there a yes hidden somewhere in that sentence -“
“You fucking prick! I hate you! I thought you were mad!” Jaejoong shoved Yunho away and ran away so that he could pick up the flowers. He began to walk away, and Yunho ran after him.
“Are you going to go to prom with me -“
“Of course I’ll go to prom with you, you fucking bastard!” Jaejoong shouted, “I hate you!”
Yunho laughed, “Don’t be like this.” He reached out and pulled Jaejoong by the wrist, smoothly capturing his boyfriend’s lips in a soft kiss. He ran his hand through Jaejoong’s hair and grinned, “You liked it, didn’t you?”
“Fuck you,” Jaejoong muttered.
“I love you Kim Jaejoong.”
“I love you too Jung Yunho,” Jaejoong muttered before he buried his face into Yunho’s chest, his face heating up with embarrassment. “I love you so much, you stupid prick.”
