Title: A Learning Process
Pairing: Yunho/Jaejoong

Summary: Jung Yunho was supposed to be the mysterious, indifferent, student council president. While he’d never stolen any minute of Kim Jaejoong’s attention before, he certainly was now.

Author's Note: I very stupidly and accidentally deleted all my replies to the comments here. D: (I think that makes my LJ newness very apparent. Hahaha!) If you have any questions, feel free to just ask me again about it through a message, and thank you again to those who I had replied to but got my reply deleted.

Jaejoong opened the door and paused.

There was someone else with Yunho in the room. Neither turned a head to look at him, and Jaejoong walked quietly into the room. He set down his things on his usual chair, making sure to do it louder than usual to catch their attention.

His plan succeeded.

They both turned their heads - Yunho looking more amused than the other boy did.

“Changmin, I told you about my afternoon arrangement. This is Kim Jaejoong.” He said, gesturing to Jaejoong with his hand. “Jaejoong, this the vice president -“

“I think he should know who his vice president is.” Changmin interrupted as he eyed Jaejoong from head to toe. “It’s nice to meet you. Could you get the equipment I reserved from the audio visual room? Just say that it’s for the -“

Jaejoong didn’t move an inch and frowned at him, “Yunho doesn’t tell me to do anything. I didn’t do anything before, and I won’t be doing anything now.” He replied as he sat down to make a point.

Changmin’s mouth fell open, and he glanced at Yunho. “Go tell him to get the equipment.”

“I’m the president here. You get it.” Yunho replied with a smirk.

“You heard him.” Jaejoong added, a huge smile appearing on his face. He propped his legs up on the chair in front of him, “Go get the equipment.”

Changmin got out of his chair and walked up to Jaejoong with a glare. He pulled the chair out from under his legs and muttered curses as he exited the classroom, making sure to slam the door behind him.

Jaejoong immediately got out of his seat and walked over to Yunho. He pulled a chair up and bit his lip, “So…hi.” He said, irritated with himself for sounding more nervous than he wanted to show.

Yunho looked up at him, “Hi.” He replied before he looked back down at the documents in front of him.

Jaejoong frowned.

Was that it?

“I want to talk to you about -“

The door opened, and Jaejoong nearly cursed out in frustration. He glared at the people who entered and vaguely recognized them as other members of the student council. They walked up to Yunho, and Jaejoong immediately left the crowd to return to his previous seat.

“Why are you here?”

Jaejoong stopped glaring at the floor and glanced up at the direction of the voice. He looked up at the girl and realized that she was his classmate.

Oh God, if only he could remember her name.

“Extra credit.” He muttered, hoping his bad boy image would save him and that she would go away.

“Extra credit? Your grades are so high though! I saw your test paper the other day when the teacher made me hand it out, and you got the highest in the class.” The girl chattered excitedly, “Are you interested in becoming a volunteer for the upcoming -“

“No.” Jaejoong cut in before she could finish. He was in a poor mood, and it was all because of Yunho.

He shouldn’t have let the idiot push him up against the wall and ravish him, no matter how much he’d enjoyed it.

Jaejoong huffed, and a few seconds later, a box was placed right in front of him. He looked up and noticed that the freakishly tall vice president had a scary sadistic grin on his face.

“You’re going to sort these DVDs out in chronological order.” He ordered as he pointed at the box.

“But -“

“Yunho’s not paying attention right now.” Changmin interrupted, “And, despite his ability to do all the work and let you do nothing, I’m not the same person. It’ll be easy for me to walk over to Mr. Kim’s office right now and tell him you’re not being useful.”

Jaejoong frowned and began to work.

Stupid brat.
o-o-o
Jaejoong felt someone shake his shoulder, and he woke up. It was the first afternoon in the week in which he was just allowed to sleep, and it was because Changmin hadn’t around to blackmail into running errands for the student council. Jaejoong sat up drowsily and rubbed his eyes to look at the person.

“Hi.”

Jaejoong frowned, “What?”

“Do you know where Yunho is?” the girl, Go Ara, asked. She nervously tucked back a strand of her long hair and fidgeted in front of Jaejoong. “He asked me to meet him after school, but he’s not here.”

Jaejoong noticed the emptiness of the room and shrugged, “I don’t know where he is. I’ve been asleep for a bit.” He judged her carefully and took note of her pretty and delicate features. “I don’t think -“

The door opened, and Yunho walked in. He glanced at the two of them, “I’m sorry. I left to give papers to the principal.”

“No apology -“

“Can we talk out in the corridor?” Yunho suggested as he interrupted Jaejoong and pointed at the door. His eyes flickered down to Jaejoong briefly before settling back onto Ara, “It’s more private there than here.”

“I could just go if you want.” Jaejoong muttered as he made his way to leave. “Just call me when -“

“No, it’s okay.” Ara smiled at Jaejoong brightly, “You can go back to sleep. I’m sorry for waking you up and for being such a bother.” She bowed slightly and followed Yunho out of the room.

Jaejoong watched them leave and frowned.

He did not enjoy being fucked over, and if the rumors of Yunho dating the girl were true, then he would easily punch the student council president in the face without hesitation - suspension be damned.

He left his seat and walked over to the door. Jaejoong looked down at the doorknob and considered the possibility of walking into their conversation, or opening the door slightly so that he could hear what they were talking about.

His hand reached out for the brass knob, but he quickly recoiled and returned to his seat in frustration. Jaejoong glared at the floor and waited for a few minutes, and as soon as Yunho entered, he stood up and watched him.

Yunho returned his glare with disinterest, “What?”

“Are you fucking around with me?” Jaejoong asked as he took steps in order to face the other student. “If you’re dating her, then -“

“I’m not dating her.”

Yunho brushed past Jaejoong and sat down at his usual chair, returning to the paperwork stacked upon the table. He glanced back at Jaejoong, “You can leave soon, it’s almost time for you to go anyway.”

“She likes you.”

Yunho didn’t look back, “I know.”

“And you’re not going to do anything about it?” Jaejoong asked as he approached Yunho and sat down on the desk closest to the latter. “What did you talk to her about?”

The student council president turned his head, “I don’t think you need to know what we talked about. It’s none of your business.” Yunho paused for a second and turned back to his papers, filing them carefully, “And Ara knows that I don’t like her in the way she wants me to.”

“Well then, let’s talk about us.”

Tension filtered into the room, and Jaejoong watched for any trace of discomfort on Yunho’s face. When his usual impassive expression failed to change, he tilted his head and studied Yunho, “Why did you kiss me?”

“What do you want my answer to be?” Yunho asked as he turned in his seat so that he could face Jaejoong directly. “Is there a particular answer you’re looking for?”

“I just want the truth.”

“The truth would be that I don’t know.” He replied, “Do you want me to kiss you again in case I might find out a second time?”

“Why are you so vague?” Jaejoong replied moodily, “If you like me, just say so. If you don’t like me, then say so. I don’t get why you keep giving me questions instead of proper answers.”

He turned away from Yunho and walked out of the council room before the latter could get a word out of his mouth in reply.
o-o-o
The next day, Jaejoong was surprised to see Yunho sleeping on his desk and snoring softly. The sight of the usually cold student in such a delicate state brought an amused smile to Jaejoong’s lips, and he made sure to walk as quietly as possible in order to avoid waking Yunho up.

He sat down on the chair next to Yunho’s and watched him carefully. It was odd to see the other student so peaceful and so normal. Jaejoong was too used to the calm and composed demeanor Yunho kept at all times, so it was refreshing to see a more innocent and vulnerable side.

Despite the fact that Jaejoong had been quiet throughout the minutes that had passed since he’d entered the classroom, Yunho began to stir. He blinked twice drowsily and when he caught sight of Jaejoong, he quickly jerked upright.

“Fuck.” Yunho muttered, “You scared me.” He rubbed his eyes, “How long have you been inside the room?”

“Not long,” Jaejoong replied honestly, “I never thought I’d ever catch you sleeping on the job. It’s new -“

“You could’ve woken me up.”

“I like you better when you’re sleeping.”

Yunho rolled his eyes and stood up, “I have to talk to someone. Are you going to come along?” he asked, “You could stay here if you want -“

“No, I’ll come.” Jaejoong left his seat and shoved his hands into his pockets, “Where are you going to go?”

“You’ll find out later.”

Jaejoong remained a few steps behind Yunho as they walked to wherever Yunho’s intended destination was. He kept his eyes on the taller boy’s head and bit his lip as he tried to think about something to talk about.

Yunho glanced back and caught Jaejoong in his state of frustration. He raised an eyebrow, “Are you okay?”

“I’m not, and it’s your fault for frustrating me like this.” Jaejoong snapped back with a frown as he glared at Yunho. “You’re an asshole.”

“…we can talk about this later.”

“Later? Again? I didn’t know you were such a procrastinator.”

“It’s not like the school corridor is the place to talk about something like this.” Yunho replied calmly as he kept his gaze on Jaejoong steady, “I promise to talk to you about it later, in the student council room. Now come on, we’re here.” He opened a door and entered it. Jaejoong sighed and followed after him.

When he entered, he realized what room they were in.

It was the chorale room - and Go Ara belonged to the school’s chorale group. He quickened his pace and froze to watch Ara approach Yunho with a beatific smile and grace of a swan.

He frowned.

Fuck her.

Jaejoong glanced at the chorale members who were watching the two most popular seniors in the entire school interact, and he could feel his insides twist with jealousy. He took a few steps closer to a group of girls, and he could hear their conversation easily.

“They look so good together.”

“Do you think they’re dating?”

“If they’re not, then he’s obviously an idiot. Anyone can see that Ara likes him so much. She’s so pretty, if she can’t get the guy she likes, then all the more there’s no hope for girls like us.”

Yunho ended the conversation with a small smile, and turned away. Before he took two steps away from her, Ara ran up to him and handed him a packet of Skittles. He thanked her politely, and walked back to Jaejoong.

He raised an eyebrow, “What?”

“Nothing.”

“Let’s go back then.”

They walked back to the student council room in silence, and as soon as they were safely inside, Jaejoong picked up his bag and slung it over his shoulder. He coughed, and Yunho turned his head.

“You owe me.”

“Right, I do.” Yunho walked up to Jaejoong and handed him the Skittles. “Here, you can have it.”

Jaejoong glanced down at the candy, “I don’t want it. She gave it to you, not me.” He muttered before he brushed his bangs away from his eyes and repeated his previous words irritably, “I don’t want it.”

“But I don’t like Skittles.”

“Then why did you accept it?” Jaejoong questioned, coming off more jealous than he’d wanted to sound. “If you don’t like Skittles, then don’t let people give you Skittles. You know she likes you -“

“I didn’t want to reject her in front of so many people.”

Jaejoong snatched the candy out of Yunho’s hand, “Sure. Whatever. You probably did it to save your image as a nice person.” He muttered, “I don’t like Skittles either, but I’m not going to -“

He stopped his nervous rambling and glanced up at Yunho, “You still owe me an explanation.”

“Well about that…” Yunho shrugged, “I think you’re interesting.”

“Lovely.” Jaejoong replied sarcastically, “And that’s supposed to sweep me off my feet, is it?” he ripped open the packet of candy savagely and popped a few of the sweet candy into his mouth, “Well, that’s better than nothing. You find me interesting - I should go write that in my diary.”

Yunho chuckled, “Don’t forget to include a sonnet about how attractive you find me.”

“Please, if there’s anyone going to be writing a sonnet, that person’s going to be you because I don’t remember the format to those kinds of things.” Jaejoong shifted in front of Yunho awkwardly and looked up at him. “So. What now?”

“I could kiss you. Would that make you happier?”

“A little.” Jaejoong shrugged and amended his reply, “It might.”

Yunho leaned down, and Jaejoong’s eyes fluttered shut expectantly. He felt Yunho’s breath against his face, but after a few seconds passed, nothing. He opened his eyes, and Yunho pulled away.

“I can’t -“

“What do you mean you can’t?“

“You’re going to taste of Skittles.” Yunho replied childishly as he shook his head and took a step back, “I don’t want to -“

“Are you serious?”

Jaejoong was about to burst out into laughter, but Yunho moved closer to him quickly and pressed a light peck against his lips. Yunho took a step back and frowned, “Are you happy now?”

He stared at Yunho for a few seconds and took note of the childish pout that was odd and unusual on Yunho’s usually impassive face. Yunho looked adorable.

Jaejoong leaned forward and kissed Yunho quickly before pulling away. He walked to the door, opened it, and turned around.

“Yes, I’m happy now.”

< >

Author’s Note: I hope you guys liked this - and I’m sorry for the Skittles hate going on in this chapter. XD Just to say though, I’m sorry if Jaejoong wasn’t too pushy for a proper answer - it’s just not his written personality here to look for it when he and Yunho are just starting out whatever it is they have. He’s satisfied with the flirting + benefits at the moment.

If you have any questions/concerns about the plot or something like that, feel free to ask in a comment. I’d love to hear about any other reactions as well. Also, in an act of promotion, please check out my other story, For You! ;)
