Summary: His life turned around the moment he met Yunho.
“So, the moment I leave the country, you decide to hook up with Yunho?” Yoochun asked with a pleased smile as he walked next to Jaejoong in the mall, “What, were you afraid of me stealing him away from you?”
“It’s not like that.” Jaejoong huffed as he picked up a shirt, “Things just happened.”
“Are you living with him?” Yoochun asked curiously as he took the shirt away from Jaejoong and held it against his chest, “Have you two had sex -“
“No!”
Jaejoong frowned at Yoochun and snatched the shirt away, “You’re so annoying. Go back to Japan.” He placed it back on the rack and walked in the opposite direction, Yoochun trailing behind him.
“You two are going to spend Christmas together, right?” Yoochun asked as he sidled up next to Jaejoong at the cashier. He stuck his hands into his pockets and glanced at Jaejoong curiously, “I can’t imagine the two of you doing otherwise.”
“I don’t know.” Jaejoong muttered, “It’s only a few days away, and Yunho hasn’t given any hints for us to do so.”
“Maybe he assumes you guys will automatically spend Christmas together?” Yoochun asked with a shrug, “If I were dating someone, then I’d probably assume the same thing.”
“What if he doesn’t want -“
Yoochun sighed and poked Jaejoong’s waist. “Listen, I’m sure Yunho would love to spend Christmas with you.” He wrapped his arm around Jaejoong’s slim waist and pulled him closer, “Anyone would want to spend Christmas with you.”
Jaejoong smiled, “Thanks.” He looked at Yoochun and tilted his head, “What about you? What are your Christmas plans?”
“I’m going back to the States with Yoohwan. We’re going to visit our parents and spend it over there.” Yoochun replied, “It’s been a while since I’ve last seen them, and apparently they have someone they want to introduce to me.”
Jaejoong took his bag from the cashier and began to walk out of the store, “You’re willing to be set up?”
Yoochun shrugged, “Hey, she might not be that bad, and since I can’t have Yunho -“ he glanced at Jaejoong’s irritated expression and slung his arm over the other man’s shoulders, “Silly Joongie, always so uptight.”
“I’m not uptight.” Jaejoong muttered as he gripped the bag in his hand a little tighter, “I just want to spend a nice Christmas with my boyfriend, because things are looking up for a change.”
“I’m sure you’ll get your perfect holiday.” Yoochun said with a smile as he pulled Jaejoong close, “You deserve it.”
For once, Jaejoong couldn’t help but agree.
o-o-o
Jaejoong chewed on his lip nervously, waiting for Yunho to arrive. He looked around the park, everything covered by a light blanket of snow. He wrapped his coat around his body closer and stood up, determined to keep warm by moving around.
He walked around the park, and Jaejoong enjoyed the chilly air against his face. As he walked, a red ball rolled up to his feet. He paused and took it in his hands before he looked around for the owner.
A young boy stood a few meters away from him, and Jaejoong held it up with a smile on his face, “Is this yours?”
The boy nodded shyly and as he began to walk closer, a woman’s voice took his attention away. Jaejoong watched as the boy’s mother took him by the wrist and slowly approached him.
“I’m so sorry -“ she breathed out apologetically, “My son, he’s too active.”
Jaejoong stared at the woman, vaguely recognizing her, but unsure where to place her face and what her name was. “It’s fine.” He handed the ball back to the boy, “Be careful. You wouldn’t want to end up losing your ball.”
The boy nodded, and his mother sighed before she smiled up at Jaejoong, “Thank you so much.”
“It’s nothing.” Jaejoong said with a smile, looking down at the boy fondly. He brushed his gloved hands on his pants and stared at the woman for a few seconds before he apologized for being rude. “I’m sorry, but I really feel like I’ve met you before. Do you happen to know -“
“I…” the woman trailed off in thought, “Oh! I think we’ve bumped into each other on the street before?” she suggested, “I think that was you.”
The memory flashed in Jaejoong’s mind, and he remembered her instantly. “I remember now.” He said in realization before he reached out and offered his hand, “Hi, I’m Kim Jaejoong.”
“Song Yoonhee.” The woman replied as she shook Jaejoong’s hand with her own. “Do you live around this area?” she asked curiously, “I think I’ve probably seen you in this park a couple of times.”
“Ah, no, my boyfriend lives here.” Jaejoong replied easily, the words slipping out of his mouth before he had the chance to rethink his words. His eyes widened immediately, and he waited for a look of disgust to appear on the woman’s face.
Instead, she smiled. “Really? This is a nice area.” Her son pulled at her coat, and she looked down at him, “Yongha, wait. I’m still talking to this nice gentleman.”
“You…” Jaejoong trailed off, “You don’t mind?”
Yoonhee shook her head and her smile widened. “I’ve grown as a person, and I’ve learned to be understanding of the many different kinds of love in the world.” A slightly wistful look crossed her face, “I’ve made my own fair share of mistakes though.” She smiled at Jaejoong kindly before she looked down at her son, “I’m hoping to teach my son to be understanding, so that he won’t make the mistakes that I did.”
Jaejoong was about to say something, but the sound of his phone ringing cut in. He smiled apologetically at her and quickly answered his phone.
“Hello?”
“Jaejoong, I’m here.” Yunho said on the other line, “It’s cold, and I can’t find you. Where are you?”
“I’m near the entrance, but I’ll meet you by the bridge, okay?” Jaejoong said, “I’ll be there in a few.”
“Okay.”
Jaejoong hung up and smiled regretfully, “I’m sorry, I have to go.”
Yoonhee nodded, “Of course, I understand.” She squeezed her son’s shoulders affectionately, “My son wants to go as well. Apparently his cartoons are an extremely pressing matter that he shouldn’t be late for.”
Jaejoong laughed and squatted so that he could talk to the young boy eye to eye, “I’ll see you another time Yongha.”
The boy buried his face into his mom’s leg, and they laughed. Jaejoong said his goodbyes before he hurriedly walked to the bridge, eager to see Yunho.
o-o-o
Jaejoong smiled as soon as he saw Yunho and quickened his pace to a jog. He reached Yunho, and as soon as they were together, he was quickly pulled into a hug. Jaejoong buried his face into Yunho’s chest, and the other man hugged him tightly.
As soon as they pulled away from each other, Jaejoong noticed the bag in Yunho’s hand. “Is that for me?” he asked with a small smile, “I like presents.”
“It’s for Yoochun actually,” Yunho said with a laugh as he intertwined his fingers with Jaejoong. “He demanded that I get him a welcome back gift for when we meet up for dinner later.”
“You’re going to meet him for dinner later?” Jaejoong asked as he glanced at the present curiously, “Make sure he doesn’t have too many glasses of wine.”
Yunho laughed, “I’ll be a responsible chaperone.” He squeezed Jaejoong’s hand tightly and lead him off to the bridge they were on, “Do you want to go with me? I’m sure Yoochun won’t mind if I brought you along.”
“I’m going to babysit the twins.” Jaejoong replied, “Sohyun and Wonjun are going on a date later since he just came back as well.”
“Ah, I see. Do you want me to pick you up after?” Yunho asked as they walked in the direction of a nearby café. He smiled at Jaejoong, “I’ll even bring cupcakes for the girls if you want.”
Jaejoong shook his head and smiled, his heart fluttering in his chest. “No, it’s okay. I’ll go home on my own.” He poked Yunho’s cheek, “Stop spoiling the girls. I’m supposed to be their favourite uncle, not you.”
“Can’t we share their love?”
“Enough people love you already.” Jaejoong replied childishly as he gathered the courage to plant a kiss against Yunho’s jaw in public. He smiled shyly up at Yunho and squeezed his hand, “I want their love.”
“A lot of people love you too,” Yunho murmured as he took hold of Jaejoong’s chin and tilted his face in order to kiss him properly. He pulled away with a smile, “Myself included.”
Jaejoong blushed and looked down. “Stop it.”
“You’re so cute Jaejoongie.” Yunho said with a smile before his face turned to a more serious expression, “I have something to ask you by the way.”
Jaejoong glanced up and looked at him, “What is it?”
“Well…it’s more of two things.” Yunho admitted as he rubbed the back of his neck nervously. He glanced down briefly before his eyes flickered back to Jaejoong’s face. They stopped walking, and Jaejoong could feel his heart racing as he waited for Yunho to say something.
“First…do you want spend Christmas with me Jaejoong?” Yunho breathed out, finally saying the words Jaejoong had wanted to hear.
“Of course.” Jaejoong said happily, biting his lip in an attempt to contain how overjoyed he really was. “I’d love to.”
Yunho chuckled and pressed a quick kiss to Jaejoong’s forehead. “Next…”
“Yes?”
Jaejoong noticed the look of hesitation on Yunho’s face, and he reached out to squeeze his hand reassuringly. “Are you okay -“
“Would you like to move in with me?”
Jaejoong stared at Yunho in surprise. “You…you want me to move in with you?” he asked softly, “Where?”
“I was hoping that you’d move into my apartment.” Yunho explained slowly, “It’s been a couple of months since you and I started dating…and I’m hoping that I’m not rushing you or anything. I know it may seem like I haven’t thought things through, but I’ve been thinking about this for weeks now, and I just thought -“
“I…I’d like to move in with you,” Jaejoong said slowly, “But I’ll think about it first though, okay Yunho? It’s a big step to take.”
Yunho nodded and smiled reassuringly, “I understand.”
Jaejoong leaned up to kiss Yunho, and as his eyes fluttered shut, he pulled Yunho’s face closer and deepened the kiss. When they pulled away, Jaejoong smiled up at him, and ran his hand through the taller man’s hair.
“You’re one of the best gifts I’ve received this year,” Jaejoong said slowly, his heart filled with so much emotion, “I’m so thankful for you.” He smiled happily and the look on Yunho’s face only melted his heart even further.
Jaejoong pressed his ear to Yunho’s chest and wrapped his arms around his boyfriend tightly, seeking Yunho’s warmth in the midst of all the cold. “Thank you for everything.” He murmured, and as Yunho pulled him in tighter, Jaejoong was sure that there was nothing more he could want in life.
