There are no words for how awesome this fic is! I honestly tend to shy away from Requiem fic because I get so tired of the Gibbs bashing & the poor woobie Tony who invariably ends up at Death's door. There *are* some great ones granted, but generally I'm not a fan

But this? This is perfect. You've got Gibbs saying 'thank you' - which ITA he should have said in the ep, teamy-goodness (all so very in character) & a perfect, perfect Tony. Yay!

Thank you so much for such a lovely comment - and I cannot tell you how relieved I am by it, too - because the thing is, I like nothing better than wallowing in a full-on, woobie!Tony, with buckets of hurt/comfort. And there is a lot of it following Requiem and a lot of it is a guilty pleasure - and I like my pleasures to come without guilt. There is awesome post-Requiem fic too, like you say, but I was really wary of writing this and falling into the trap!

But the thing is, I think Tony would be absolutely fine with Gibbs not saying anything at all - sure, it's nice to have him say thank you, but I wanted it to be without the push of Tony being morbidly ill, and I also wanted Tony to not actually have minded that much. He's always been okay with Gibbs not talking before!

Sorry to ramble on, but thank you for very helpful comments (that yes, flattered my ego, LOL, but really did help too) and also, as I sneaked over to your journal in the creepy way I always do to everyone who has hilarious icons, you have a very, very pretty horse!

Yes. This. I never understand why we have to get the guilt & the bashing in order to have the woobie. So often both characters come off badly - Gibbs for being a bastard & Tony for staying & taking it. Or else he turns into a saint. And that boy ain't no saint...

Oh yes, Tony would be fine with not hearing it, but it would have been nice to see Gibbs acknowledge it in some small gruff way (as here). Functional mute indeed.

My icon is plagerised from a fridge magnet, so I can't take credit, but feel free to creep anyway! Aw, thank you! My Rosie is sadly no longer with us, but she was a doll.

Yes! Saintly!Tony is a peeve of mine. And also, Requiem did give us that heroic Tony scene, for which I will be forever greatful, but it was also Gibbs' episode, and his epic man pain is petty damn epic. And we didn't see him say thank you, but I'm sure in some way he did. Maybe not with words (functional mute = my favouite line ever) but perhaps by letting Tony drive for the next week or so.

I'm so sorry! She was absolutely gorgeous, though. My horse is retired at the moment, and I hate going into the winter with him even though he does seem quite healthy and tough! :-)

"Functional mute" was *the* best part of the episode. :-)

I think I cracked a few ribs laughing at that - and that was after being spoiled! :-)

LOL!!! I will probably watch this one again, if only for that. :-)

Hee! I can forgive 7x01 quite a bit just for those two words. Love the idea of Tony being allowed to drive *pets him*

Thank you. She was a big softie & a total lunatic (don't believe that 'butter wouldn't melt' look - she was a bonkers girl). Awww, give your boy a pat from me!

The ones with the biggest eyes and ears and cutest faces are always the secret crazies! ;-)

I'm still deciding what I liked and disliked about the premiere - mostly I just have a zillion questions that will probably go unanswerable in canon - but I do know that line made me hurt, it was so funny!

Okay to friend, BTW? You like horses and functional mutes, it's a good mix! ;-)

Oh yes! It's always the cuties...

I didn't hate it, but you are so right with the questions. Me too! And I was spoiled for it also - probably just as well tbh, I may have actually ruptured something otherwise.

Of course! Heh, now if only we can have some more of the functional mute on horseback I'll be very happy :-)

If I'd been watching it live, I think I would have missed the next twenty minutes breathing into a paper bag to overcome my hysteria. As it was, I could press pause!

South by Southwest made me crazy with happiness! I want way more of the functional mute and the wildcard riding together. MW had a very nice leg position, I thought. ;-)

Okay, this is something I've been wondering about, but for all that I'm a Texan, I know *zip* about riding (I'm basically a city gal). Did he have a good seat or was MW as clueless in the saddle as Tony? :-)

Well, I know next to nothing about Western riding, as I'm English-trained all the way, but to my eye he looked really comfortable in the saddle. He was straight-backed, loose and easy on the arm movements, had his heels down and didn't bounce all over the place at a higher pace. I'd say MW was definitely comfortable, if not experienced, on a horse.

He was also very good at mounting and not crashing down on the horse's back, which I would say points to some experience! But my Western riding knowledge is limited - I'm hoping plutos_revenge might have a bit more to say! :-)

Thanks! Looking forward to her(?) comments. *I* thought he looked good, but I might be biased. :-)

I think, when they were galloping, that there were stunt doubles on the horses, but we did see the guys on horseback enough, I'd think, to tell if they had a clue. ;-)

I'm slightly worried that my bias is coming into play too, LOL, though I think he was pretty good. But I do have insane love for any man who can ride. ;-)

Definitely stunt doubles for the galloping, but in the ep and on the special feature, he was competently steering and looked comfortable when his horse bounded up a bank. He just looked quite relaxed and laidback, which most newbies don't! And he patted his horse in the special, too, which was totally adorable, and hit all my weak spots! *is ridiculous* ;-)
