I spent most of the weekend working on a couple of projects. The first and most disappointing is a desk I picked up for free. It's an old metal teacher's desk and at first I thought it would be a great all-purpose desk for the house. I had this grand idea that I would sand and repaint it and then move all of the furniture in the house just to accommodate it. Well, I got it home with the help of Shannon and my stepfather, moved all of the furniture around, and then began painting. I wound up painting the sides and front of the desk a light green and the top with black chalkboard paint. Honestly, the desk looks pretty cool, but as I was painting I realized that it just wasn't going to work in my house. The house is too small and all of the other furniture is kind of matchy, so if I stuck this new desk in the living room, it would stick out like a sore thumb. Now I have to find a new home for this old desk and new desk for my old home.

Project number two was laying down wood laminate floors in the living and and dining area. This only took a couple of hours and roughly $300 to do. It's made a HUGE difference. The area is much lighter and airy. Before, we had a purple-ish dumpstered carpet down in the room, and it was dingy, dark and uninviting. Now.. I don't know. I want people to come over and check it out. I'm really proud of the space.

Next weekend I am going to try to get some painting, sewing and framing in.
