Hey! Haven't talked to you in ages! So it looks like you're serious this time, huh? Well, good for you. I've been plodding away for twelve years working towards my dream, and now I'm only about three or four months away from that moment I've dreaded of either fulfilling it or crashing and burning hard. I know I'll succeed, and I'll finally be able to stop the endless cycle of getting a shit job, sticking with it for a year and a half, and then being out of work for a year or two just living on my savings. I like having money and setting my own schedule, and it's time to make that a permanent condition for me. Two hundred years ago nobody dwelt in wage slavery, and maybe we can't all escape that life, but certainly some of us can, and I plan to be one of them. I hope you succeed too.
Whatever you do, make sure it's something you can live with. Only you can decide if you're happy. Not family, not friends -- nobody but you. Nobody's keeping score but you, so if you're not happy, you're the only one who suffers. So if it's time to go - go, and if not - don't -- either way, only you can decide if it's time.
If you head to California, I recommend San Francisco. The Bay Area is a pretty diverse area. If you can't find customers in SF, Berkeley is just a BART ride away, and there's plenty of sidewalk vendors there, so they must be making a respectable living.
Anyway, I know we haven't really talked in years, but it'd fun to talk to you again. Drop me a line sometime: youhavemynachos@earthlink.net.
