it's way past my bedtime... but i finally finished the messenger bag! wahoo! i'm really happy with it! i also finished the crocheted top, but it was pretty anti-climatic, cause all i had left of it was the straps. though they took me an hour, stupid things. i hate crocheting into the chain, it's my least favourite part of crocheting.
anyway, the bag!
mouse over the pics for descriptions and excuse the shitty lighting, i just HAD to take pictures tonight!. i think it took me about 6 hours total, maybe a bit more. super time intensive. i wish i'd remembered how much i hate doing that style of corners in vinyl, i should've made them rounded. oh well. opinions? my mom's horrified.
i'll post pics of the crocheted top later, i want to put it on the dress form at andi's for the pics.
my computer system was down all day today at work. boring as hell. by 2pm (5pm ottawa time) i gave up on all hope of it being fixed today and came home early, stopping at the fabric store again (since i knew my cheque had arrived! and i needed velcro for the bag, but that was less exciting.) the fabric store had purple vinyl! wahoo! i've been searching for that for ages. i'd planned to sew when i got home, but instead spent a few hours getting caught up on stuff on craftster, which was apparently good, cause it's down now. i hate that.
in other news, my cheque finally arrived. i submitted my expense report on MAY 29th! MAY! what a bloody saga! it went in late, cause the person in the vancouver office was on holidays. it was ready to go in may 22nd. whatever. it was only supposed to take 3 weeks. after 3 weeks i called the vancouver office, they called ottawa, ottawa said they were mailing it that day. okay. waited a week and a half, given that there was a stat in the middle, still no cheque. called vancouver office, person was on holidays again. lovely patrick searched her desk and couldn't find anything, so e-mailed person in ottawa, but got an auto-reply since person in ottawa was on holidays too. damn summer. finally tracked down someone in ottawa who could figure it out, turns out they sent it to my old address on frances street, where i haven't lived in 3 years, despite my changing my address in the past, and my current address written on the expense claim. patrick made them void that cheque, since it was now lost somewhere in canada post land, and they promised to send it interoffice mail, so it would be couriered and arrive wednesday. since i work the same hours as the union office, we decided patrick would leave it on the board room table and i'd pick it up when i went to the multi union pride meeting on thursday night. fine. got an e-mail from patrick thursday that it hadn't shown up in the interoffice mail, they'd apparently mailed it, though to the correct address this time. so it FINALLY showed up today, what, seven weeks later? and monica wants me to take 3 weeks off in september to work on a conference? highly fucking unlikely.
anyway, must go to bed. i still have so much stuff to do this week. i'm slightly stressed. i'm refusing to think about the union BBQ i'm organizing for friday night... i'll start worrying thursday. or maybe friday morning.
