I love this in a million ways. It's quietly romantic and feels 100% authentic to the characters. Nicely done!
Mal walks her down the aisle, officiates the ceremony and tries not to look too angry when Wash kisses her.
She goes to sleep as Zoe Washburne that night, and laughs a little--she actually married the goofy pilot.
These are my favourite lines! Though I thought in canon Mal wasn't at Wash and Zoe's wedding (because he didn't know what their vows were in 'War Stories'), but I actually really like the idea of him relucantly officiating the wedding and being grumpy and Mal-like about it.
You could very well be right--either I missed that part, or it slipped my mind. I don't think one teeny change in canon matters all that much, if only because the idea of him at the ceremony is priceless.
