my own short story, based on real events

Aug 09, 2004 16:34

She sits in front of a monitor as she has for many days now past. It bores her but consumes her so she remains. She is clothed exactly as she was the preceding night. A futile attempt at reading Gulliver’s Travels the night before only caused a long and uninterrupted dose so she awoke dressed as she was. She is conversing.

“Entalpy4: sure...but what do u wanna do?
macaronimackerel: i dont make plans
macaronimackerel: i just follow them, like a good spic
Entalpy4: lol...but i m a semi-spic too...so were not getting anywhere...c if the white girl wants to do anything
macaronimackerel: okay ill call the bitch up”

A quick run to attain a cordless phone and the girl returns to her original position. (305) 232-99… a number she has dialed for years and knows better then her own. It rings. It rings again. And again. Disappointment starts to creep into her thoughts. How can this pillar this friend who is always available and whose company is readily attained not be there. Why today? It is futile, no one will respond at the other end.

She must attempt by another means. Again she rises but to another local. She searches the room, books, papers; pilings of things rarely used or singularly used and then discarded. She searches for blue. It is not an easy task. Insomnia has crowded the room with items and printings that entertain with little noise. A ring is heard, another friend has made contact, and she can not be more grateful. The blue phone is found. She returns once more to the monitor and places her call. It rings singularly and is answered. Oh the heavens have parted and wishes can come true.

But as the conversation lengthens and ends the girl comes to a scathingly disappointing answer. She relays the information.

“macaronimackerel: white girl is busy
macaronimackerel: we will be informed later of our orders
Entalpy4: lol...were fucked now
Entalpy4: lol
macaronimackerel: but the call will not be returned till after practice ends”

And so two people remain, two people who lack the ability to make decisions so they sit, in their separate abodes awaiting a phone call our offer that will tempt them out.

A screen appears on the monitor.

“Can I kidnap you?”

The girl ponders, “Abandon one friend for my own entertainment”
“Yes, yes, yes…”
