Perceptions
Kelly's party was a success as far as I'm concerned. I think I drank just enough to not get sick or embarrass myself but more than enough to be exceedingly chatty all night long. Seriously, I don't think i shut up once, not really like me.
D and I were talking about the party yesterday and he made the comment that it was a rather artsy fartsy group of people. I just kind of looked at him, really? Then he started going through the list- the one chick w/ purple hair? Oh right, Chrissy. I can see that. The girl who wore the scarf all night. Uh-huh, Ellen true again. the gal w/ the short dark hair, the bottlecap broach, Genevieve, yup can agree there. The guy w/ the engineer's cap- Brian, again a bit artsy looking, yes. Some rastafarian looking gent- completely. The redhead w/ the boots and plaid skirt, again very nonmainstream looking. His overall impression was, while positive, very different of the people there. I knew of every person he mentioned, chatted with them all and it never occurred to me that it was a very artsy group of people or not. In retrospect, I guess it probably was. I always find it interesting when you are at the same party w/ the same people and two can perceive it so completely differently.
