"Remember the Time"

I feel like I need to make a comment about Michael Jackson on this day. He's being laid to rest in mere minutes and it's like it just hit me now. He was such a part of my childhood, my growing up. I can remember being little and my sister and I were OBSESSED with "Moonwalker" (and I can't begin to express how unhappy I am that I can't find our copy of it). Not a week would go by and we wouldn't watch it. I know the whole thing by heart and it still makes me smile. Michael looked good in it. Hadn't had too much done yet and he just still looked really cute. Plus I don't care how cheesy anyone says it is, it was awesome to me then (and still a little bit now) that he could turn into a car and robot to thwart Joe Pesci and save the little girl. (And I am not above admitting I wanted to BE that little girl when I was little!). I also have (had, *pouts*) his concert from Bucharest on tape and I watched that all the time too. Good memories indeed!

It's just sad to me, really sad. Because no matter how weird he was, whether you think he touched those kids or noth, NOTHING can take away the fact that he made AMAZING music that will be great until the end of time. Just hearing all the songs on the radio lately (like right now they are playing one of my faves - "Pretty Young Thing") makes me happy and sad all at the same time.

So like everyone else - RIP Michael. My childhood will always be tied to you. :)

"Pretty Young Things repeat after me! Say "Nah, nah, nah, nah!"

memorial, michael jackson
