Big Mistake

I bought my Dell Inspiron 1420 laptop about two years ago, and it came with Windows Vista. Well, Vista had a great interface, but the thing I didn't like about it was that I couldn't use my scanner because it is incompatible. I could however use the print and copy functions (it's one of those inexpensive all-in-one printers). This was disappointing, as I don't have extra money to spend on a new printer, and I don't think the new HP models are even compatible. I have no idea which printers are the best, but I don't like the big, bulky ones and again, I don't have a lot of money, so... can't buy a new one!

Then I was having trouble with my CD/DVD Rom because it wouldn't read CD's or rip them. Come to find out, it was because of Apple iTunes and Quicktime. So, I have to install it every time I want to update my ipod shuffle, and then take it off again when I'm done so that I can use my CD Rom drive.

Well, now nothing works! I went to Texas to visit both my older sister and her family, and my older brother and his son. My older brother was putting some software on my laptop, and we both were grumbling about how Vista is crap. So I got this brilliant idea (NOT) to have him wipe my computer and put Windows XP on it. So he did, and put bootleg copies of the expensive programs on. Now, I don't know what I did, but I'm having huge problems. I can't use the foot pedal for my work, the CD/DVD Rom does not work, I can't download iTunes, so can't update and rejuice my ipod shuffle...I'm going nuts!

I need to call my brother, but I'm afraid to because he will probably get annoyed with me and not know how to help me. I am really terrible at following verbal directions when it involves technology, and I have to write everything down so that I remember the steps, because you have do everything in order.

My work is going really slow, because I don't have my foot pedal and I can't figure out how to do the macros on Microsoft Office 2007.

I'm so mad at myself...why do I have to be greedy? Why can't I be content with what I have?
