Stolen from several on my friends list:
1. What the funniest book you've ever read?
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. Yeah, it's dumb, too, but sometimes funny and dumb go together. This book makes me snort when I read it. :P
2. What's the scariest book you've ever read?
I don't read many scary books but I'm sure one of the many Dean Koontz books I've read would qualify. He seems to specialize in scary...or at least disturbing.
3. What's the most difficult book you've ever read?
Two come to mind right off that bat (that weren't frickin' text books or something): The Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien. It is beautifully written but it was really, really hard to understand without re-reading each sentence a few times. The other was Truman by David McCullough. It wasn't so difficult to read really, it was just really long so it took forever (it had over 1000 pages of small text). But it was excellent once I got through it all.
4. What's the most shocking book you've ever read?
See my answer to #2, they seem kind of the same to me...
5. What book made you cry more than any other?
Oh man, Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls. Of course, I'm a big baby so a lot of books have made me cry but that one stands out because I read it tons of times when I was younger.
6. What book gave you nightmares or bad dreams?
I honestly can't think of one.
7. What book inspired you to change your life?
Besides something like The Bible which inspired me to want to be a good person, I also think Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli definitely inspired me to not be afraid to just be me and be happy about that. My only regret is that I didn't get to read Stargirl when I was younger (because it wasn't published until my adulthood), but I think it would have really inspired me during my teenage years when I really needed that message the most.
8. What's the most romantic book you've ever read?
Believe it or not, as romantic as I am, I don't actually seek out romance novels to read really. Mostly I think they are full of cheese or totally unrealistic. So it's hard for me to really think of a good one, but I finally thought of Persuasion by Jane Austen. The romance is very subtle but there is this love letter near the end that is the love letters of all love letters...I melt every time I read it. If a guy wrote me that letter I would give in to his any wish. :P
9. What's the most adventure-filled book you've ever read?
Hands down, The Lord of the Rings trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien. Throw The Hobbit in there, too. It's the best adventure ever, the classic good vs. evil story with amazing characters and all kinds of fantastic stuff.
10. What book carried you off into a land of imagination more than any other?
This might sound really cheesy, but I have to say the Harry Potter novels by J.K. Rowling. Those books make my imagination run wild like no other and made me a lover of fantasy novels.
