That definitely sounds like a customs charge. Where was the buyer located?

I mean, EMS from Korea to the US for a SD-sized BJD is only $50-60 and EMS is pretty much the fastest international service you can get without using a private carrier like FedEx or DHL, so absolutely no way was there a $110 shipping fee for a tiny doll.

The buyer is in The Netherlands. And yeah, there's no way postage could have cost that much because the tiny barely weighs anything and I checked how much EMS would have cost ($35-ish) so I don't get that I can't be a customs fee. I'm just going to assume the buyer was confused and that it was customs after all.

don't feel bad about the customs fee. it's not your fault and she should have anticipated customs.

lol, i love Ivy's passive aggressiveness. she's amusing!

Well, yeah, there's no way I'm going to be responsible for other people's customs fees. Like I said, she wasn't upset so I suppose it's over now, I just didn't expect her to have to pay that much. :O

Heh, Ivy is a little passive aggressive, isn't she? She's also still feeling really embarrassed about the fact that Felix knows how she feels about him, so that's part of it, too.

Totally a customs fee, I've shipped dolls overseas a few times and they get hit hard depending on where they are. Germany was definitely one of the worst.

Zander called back...gasp! I can't wait to see if he's definitely changing his ways.

That's what I thought, I'm just going to assume then that the buyer misunderstood what she was paying for then. And hey, I can't help it if my buyers get charged customs fees in their own country. Not that I would have lied about the value anyway, but I couldn't because I had to declare a value for insurance, so...

Yep, Zander finally called! He's not lying, he has been busy, but he was also a little intimidated when he found out one of Ivy's good friends is Sabrina. :P

I'm guessing it was a customs fee also, and she just misunderstood. Still, ouch! I'd die a little if I had to pay that much in customs fees for one of my dolls.

I'm feeling much better about this now. I feel bad for her, but I can't help what customs will charge when I send out the packages. Still, I would have freaked out a little, too, if I had had to pay that much, yikes!

i think it was a customs fee too!
in sweden we pay 30% on anything that's worth over $70 or $80, that's just how it is.
(fortunately it has only happened with 2 of my dolls, elfdoll and dollmore for example send their dolls as gifts and lower value)
for me when it happens i get a slip and it says on the slip "customs to pay", so then when i go to get the package i have to pay that amount.
it was probably just "on delivery" because that package with Min was delivered to her home directly.
it's really not your fault so you shouldn't feel bad!

That makes sense. The declared value was $300 so 30% of that is about $90, which is close to what she had to pay. She's in the Netherlands, though, but maybe their customs fees are similar to yours. Hopefully then she just misunderstood what she was paying for, I don't feel so bad now.

i'm sure they have some similar percentage yes. i think many countries in northern europe have something around that percentage.
