People resort to violence rather than dialogue, and for all she cares about humanity, she's been let down too many times. No more nice Anna who helps those in need, they've already gone too far. Ruby loves to say I told you so.
"We're safe for now," Ruby says, grabbing her hand, and Anna finds she needs the comfort.
Together they'll walk out of the woods towards a new home.

Jo sinks into the bed next to Anna. "It's not fair."

Jo snorts."Just...hold me, please."
And Anna does until Jo falls asleep in her arms.

Summary: It's the end of the world and they've been on the road for far too long.
They’re running low on supplies, a power bar and a gallon of water is all they have left. Tessa huffs parking the jeep, now they also have to look for gasoline. Anna has been oddly quiet for the entire ride since they left the refuge back in Wisconsin.
Tessa can only imagine what's going through her head.
"It's going to rain again," Anna mentions casually as Tessa leaves the car. Her words are not the most exciting to hear.
She looks up at the sky, it looks bright orange. She sighs, if they're lucky the acid rain period is over. A sunflower catches Tessa's attention by the side of the road, it looks odd in the middle of empty buildings and ruins.
"Here," Tessa says, holding out the flower. Anna opens and closes her mouth, her eyes sparkling. It's been so long since she's seen something as beautiful and hope feels renewed.
Anna takes it, wishing both the sunflower and they could spread their roots somewhere and the running was over. "Thank you," she whispers, her lips pressing against Tessa's hand.
It’s the last flower and it belongs with Anna.
Tessa nods. Perhaps they will be okay, a new beginning ahead.
