What an interesting use of the prompt this week! Love the whole gladiator thing. Language is so important to one's history and identity.

This was interesting and very well done. The characters seemed so real. The reader can see where they are and feel R's hopelessness. Nice work! :)

The feeling of despondency is very strong here. I felt for Retiarius and Syrus, sold, stripped of their names, forced to fight to the death. The fact that Retiarius doesn't feel anything at (what I presume is) his former competitor's death shows his apathy under those miserable conditions. That's no way for a person to live.
Excellent work; I realy enjoyed it.
