I don’t think it’s actually something you could find interesting, but I’m rather stressed lately, and when I’m stressed, I’m known for being… well, childish, and what’s more childish than writing a post about things I’m fond of that are settled in my room?
Let’s start with the Holy Mother with Child. It’s one of my favorite thing, and I’ve always loved it with a passion. Probably because it’s as old as me- at least, it’s been in my possession since I came to life - and has a story. It’s a Japanese painting on silk, framed on a later date to prevent damage; it was a birth gift from a nun, the twin sister of my first neighbor, two old ladies that lived in the same village as my grandfather and knew my family from… well, a long time. She sued to travel all around the world for the Church, and when learnt that my mother was pregnant, before coming back from Japan took this with her to give to me. I’ve had this painting on my bed since the day I was born, and, still now, I can’t get enough of it.
On the same wall, there’s this thing here, a roof tile decorated with pink roses with the technique of the decoupage. It’s nothing too extravagant or particular, but one of the reasons I’m so fond of it it’s that I’ve made it- a sister creation, with dark pink flowers, found residence in my kitchen.
I’ve always been into fantasy, I’ll admit it- I even have the theatrical poster of ones of the Lord of the Rings motion picture! And I’ll admit that I buy at least once a year a statue featuring a faery. The majority of them are cheap imitations, things without value, but two of them (third picture, the two in the middle) are… well, not so cheap, and among the first thing I bought as soon as I started to work (first thing was a pair of sunglasses, made with lenses for my sight issues) ; they are from the DRAGONSITE line, based on the drawings of American Artist Nene Thomas (you can find here , at
http://nenethomas.com), and called Purple Lace and Daybreak.
What’s so special about this chair? Originally, it was in the same shade of the drawers you can see behind it, but time ruined it. But, with just seven euros for a brand new cover for an ironing board and few nails, I got a brand new chair… have to say, it kind of makes me proud that I basically re-made it!
But you want to know what’s really what I would never, ever renounce to? This one!
What’s better than a computing cat, after all?
(By The Way, I’m well aware that the wall is Shocking Pink, and that many things in my room are, indeed, Pink, but I’m not girly, nor obsessed. And the wall was supposed to be bright red, but when we made the color, it come out pink, and we preferred to let it stay that way instead of trying and trying and trying…
