Few weeks back I watched the leaked pilot of the Minority Report show, inspired by the namesake movie, of a decade or so ago, by Spielberg, with Tom Cruise, inspired by a Philip K. Dick short story.
The movie wasn't so bad, and showed how good Tom Cruise could still be as an Action Hero of sort-- in fact, I havew to admit I've been enjoying quite a lot the last few Mission:Impossibile movies (But you also have to coinsider that 1), I was a fan of the show to begin with, 2)I adore Simon Pegg, and 3)Yes, I do enjoy looking at Jeremy Renner in action mode).
Anyway, the series.
I haven't watched the new pilot yet- as they've been reshoting it with a few differences. And they've also re-casted the role of the twin of the main character; in fact, if before they were both palyed by the same character...
now the other twin is palyed by Nick Zemo.
Yep. I said it. Nick Zemo, of What I like about you fame. and... what else did he do? I don't really think he did a lot of other things.
Anyway, besides the fact that they took a macho to play the twin to the meek boy.... I was considering a fact: they didn't need to put it in the future. In fact, the show didn't need to have the whole minority report underground mythos at all.
Why? Because it gets... heavy? It's not because you think you are getting something and instead you get soemthing else; of course it's not the action-paked movie of back then, of course it doesn't have the tones of grey of the predecessor, but at the end of the day, the elements of the movie just bothers you; the tecnology: are they using it for a motive? Not really.
But, anyway. This is just the first pilot. The first leaked pilot. I have to see still the real deal. And then I'll catch up on a couple of episodes. And then I'll see if keeping looking at it... or abandon all hope.
