where do I buy a book (1830s, USA)?

I cannot google this, I'm sorry. Does anybody happen to know which kind of store would sell books in the 1830s, in this case in Springfield/IL? I somehow doubt the city was big enough for a book-only store. I'd be completely happy with an educated guess, it doesn't need to be watertight.

EDIT: Thank you so much! Can't do mailorder (no fixed abode), we'll be lucky at a general store and try to avoid Homer & Abe:)
