Cliffs in the USA?

Hello!

This might seem slightly stupid, but can I get the names of some cliffs in the USA, which if you jump from you fall into a river? Basically, the ravine needs a water body you can swim across.

We Tried Googling... )

usa: virginia, ~science: geology, usa (misc)

The thing is, unless you're looking for some kind of 'tourist' thing, most places where people jump off cliffs into rivers are just...places locals hang.

I went camping with my SO when we were teens to a spot he and his family went every summer, along the Gasconade river.

We'd swim across the river and climb the bluff opposite and go blackberrying, and then jump off into the river and swim and play while his grandma made blackberry cobbler. So i would look for rivers in Virginia where people go swimming (i googled 'river camp virgina' and got a whole host of hits) and then look at images on google to see if the banks on your 'chosen' river are high enough.

There's also this list of 'cliff diving/cliff jumping' sites in Virginia: http://www.thirstforadrenaline.com/cliff-diving/location/virginia.shtml

This site, popular swimming holes with jumps: http://www.blueridgeoutdoors.com/hiking/jump-swimming-holes-with-big-splashes/

And sorry for the huge url, but it's going to look like this: https://www.google.com/search?q=good+place+to+jump+cliff+river+virginia&safe=off&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0CFQQsARqFQoTCMic-IGRoMcCFY8bkgodmLAJ9g&biw=1424&bih=886

Good luck!

Wow, you seem to have had an awesome childhood. :D The only water body close to me is a pool, haha. And okay, I'll consider that, though we're pretty set on Mather Gorge for now. Thanks!
