[ANON POST] Booking Passage from England to the US or South America, 1930's.
My story is set in 1930's England, and the plot point I am working with, is the realization that a character (villain) is intending to run off and disappear. Our Intrepid Sleuth finds evidence that Villain has booked passage overseas. The exact route and destination are not so important.
1)What can our Sleuth actually find? For logistic purposes, I want Villain to remain in possession of the actual tickets -so I am thinking of some type of receipt? Would there be a receipt or stub?
2) I have discovered from searching for "Vintage Travel Ocean Liner" that it was possible on New York lines in the 1920's to prepay a ticket in advance, and use it on an unspecified future sailing - was this a common practice in the business everywhere?
3) If Villain wanted to get out of the country first and took the Golden Arrow boat-train connection from London-Dover-Calais, what Continental ports would be most likely for a Transatlantic route?
