The main point is, it's not a new car, in any way. He's had it for years, it's not that he bought a replica or an antique. He bought it when it was new, and then as the years went by bits of it became obsolete and he replaced parts of it to keep him and the rest of the car intact. Of course eventually every bit has been replaced, but it's still his car. And he likes it. It'll most likely be a titanium base chassis, with the bodywork mostly carbon fibre and aluminium. Still provides decent crash protection, plus he's added airbags etc because the older ones were just terrible in terms of protection.
The trunk space on a Mustang is pretty small, but he's not packing big bags usually. If he is, he'd throw them in back. The trunk provides enough space to pack one or two medium bags of weaponry if he needs it. The classics weren't exactly economical with space, so if instead of setting up another big tank he set up a lot of smaller "bleeder"tanks, basically wrapped around whatever space was available, feeding into the main one, it's doable. Unconventional, because it's a pain to do with an autmoated production line, but cause he was refitting it on his own, it's possible.
