[ANSWERED] Driving route from Lyme, Connecticut to Brooklyn, NY

My story is a present-day supernatural thriller.

Two of my characters drive from Lyme, Connecticut to Brooklyn New York at night, in a regular car.

I found a driving trip planner that shows a route:

A bigger clue for me would be where in Brooklyn. Brooklyn is a LARGE place and there are a lot of way to get in, depending on where you are going. If you give me a better idea of where in Brooklyn, I could help better.

Thanks for the reply! I don't have a location identified, as it's not relevant to my story. Because I don't know the borough, I didn't pick a specific place in case it wouldn't match my descriptions. They're heading to a middle-class neighbourhood with small, older houses and a main street with shops and cafes.

Sorry if that's not enough; I understand if folks aren't able to help me.

Most likely they'd drive through the Bronx and Queens on the Van Wyck Expressway. As far as I can tell, the only major landmark they'd pass in LaGuardia.

If they had never been to the city before and aren't in a rush and don't care about the money (every bridge/tunnel has tolls in one direction), they may choose to drive around on the BQE and cross into Manhattan to the see the sites.

I'd be happy to help with what I can.

As the commentator above said, Brooklyn is a big place. Technically, it's a county. In square miles, it's larger than such U.S. cities as St. Louis, Spokane, Pittsburgh, Minneapolis, Boston, or San Francisco. If it was an independent city, it would rank as the fourth most populous city in the country, after Philadelphia but before Houston.

Your link did not work due to an expired session. Looking at Google Maps, there are two likely bridges to cross, depending on where in Brooklyn your characters want to go. In any case, they'd be going through parts of the Bronx and Queens.

Do you have a specific destination in mind in Brooklyn? A specific kind of neighborhood? Or do you want your characters to pass a particular landmark? Knowing these things will make it easier to answer your question.

Thank you very much for your help and questions. That's very frustrating about the link... I don't know why it would have expired. I actually think Shortysc22 has answered my question sufficiently, I appreciate it!

Personally, I would check out both Google Maps and MapQuest as well. You can actually zoom in enough to check out the streets and such in GM and MQ gives you a 'play-by-play' as it were...

Good luck :)
