What is the origin of this symbol if it has one?

Hello, I'm a fan of the manga Get Backers and one of the characters who I sometimes write and RP has this tattoo on his body. I'm wondering if anyone can identify the origin of it. The only thing I've found is people saying it looks 'Hinduish'.
