What do you even call a job like this?
Well, this is awkward… I’m not really sure how to go about asking this, so I’ll do my best so feel free to ask me for clarifications if what I’m asking is difficult.
So, I need a character, and I know what he needs to do, but I’m not sure what his job is/what to call it? That makes searching for data pretty difficult. He is a guy in his mid-to-late twenties, in year 2005, North America, and he needs to be momentarily living in a protected park (like Yellowstone or something) because he is conducting studies on behavior of wolves. All I can think of is a photographer, and that hardly covers it, does it…? I’d need the professions name to make better searches.
I also need him to have permission to carry a gun for safety, but what do you keep on yourself to dissuade bears/wolves/etc from thinking you are a good snack? Stun gun? And what sort of permission would you need to carry it/be allowed in the protected area with it? I know he’ll be working for researches/environmentalist group so he can get all the needed paperwork, I’d just like to know so I can work the character better…
Also, where would he be staying? I know he won’t be camping, that would be too dangerous, are there houses besides that of the park’s security? What are the things he should take for such an expedition? Can it be just him there or would it be too unrealistic to have a lone photographer out…?
