Sixth Grade Mean Girl

Warning for discussion of LGBTQ bullying/suicide/substance abuse

My setting: Middle school, unspecified rural district in deliberately indeterminate small-town USA, roughly 5-10 years ago

My character in this setting is being bullied because others believe her to be a lesbian. One particular girl really has it in for her and is wanting to make her life as miserable as possible. Later in the story arc (about 2 years after this, roughly age 13) the bullying girl is caught with alcohol in her locker and removed from the school for treatment, so she's got this along with some other mental health issues that aren't discussed in the story. The target of the bullying is already depressed and questioning her orientation, and ultimately makes an attempt, in part due to this bullying (but not solely because of).

What is the bullying girl doing to make her target's life miserable? I'm looking for examples of the kinds of behavior girls tend to do at around this particular age, and never having been a girl in the sixth grade I'm not sure exactly what's within normal spec, or within spec of a fairly disturbed kid.

Being a male writer about to turn 30 I have no frame of reference here, and my wife was home schooled at that age, so, help please? :) I was thinking about using the Trevor Project forums for source material, but the kids in my story are closer to age 11 rather than 13-14.
