I've tried searching Google, Google books, (search terms: "medieval norway wedding", "medieval wedding", "middelalderske bryllupet" - I got that search term from Google Translate, so if it's incorrect I apologize) and even tried searching Noway's wikipedia using Google translate. I am looking for precise information about the rituals, ceremonies, etc. for a wedding in medieval Norway, specifically the Oppland county area, 1200s-1300s. I know that a wedding feast was held at the home of either the bride or groom, and that drinking and dancing was a large aspect.
What I've been unable to find out is about the actual ceremony itself. Did it take place at the farm manor as well, or would it take place at a church. If at a church, would it be inside or outside? What kind of scripture was read, or what kind of prayers or words were spoken (their equivalent of "do you take this man, etc.")?
And if someone has any book recommendations for where I could find this kind of info, I'd greatly appreciate it.
I definitely appreciate any information possible! Thanks!
