Search terms: talking therapy/pyschocoanalysis/pyschocotherapy pre-Freud, history of pyschocoanalysis/pyschocotherapy, talking about problems cure history, historical treatment of depression etc
What I'm looking for: Evidence of the suggestion that talking about ones problems, especially with someone nbot involved, in history. I'd like evidence from doctors and/or clergy, but also from home medical books, in magazines, literature for mothers, anything you've got.
I want to find out about whether people though talking was helpful and how it was expressed.
Thanks :)
NB: I am aware of the criticisms of Freud, and agree with many of them, but I think he is a good dividing line.
Edit:Yeah, I spelt the search terms correctly when I searched them. *is thick*
