Injuries from stoning

Setting: Fairly generic medieval fantasy

Situation: There's a big crowd gathered, and... long story short, it turns very nasty. The "not do any serious damage" part is debatable... a stone the size of a superball, if it's thrown hard and happens to hit a suitably sensitive area (for example the temple), can result in a fatal injury.

I think it's possible to kill barehanded by striking the temple, if you know what you're doing. But yes, I am aware that one hit to the right place could easily be fatal, I'm just using the odds against it.

I'm trying to remember how my martial arts teacher phrased it. Basically, I think that if you get your knuckles to crack the skull over the artery... that's a killing wound.

But yeah, the fist thing was a bit of an aside. A rock would make it a lot easier.

If by "nipped in the bud" you mean "there's one clear path and they ain't hanging around"... it's fast enough, basically. Thankfully the crowd can't try to storm after them, either, because of the buildings and whatever.
