I'm working on a story in which the MC is an European businessman working temporarily in Venezuela, primarily Caracas. I'm trying to figure out where he lives. A neighborhood where the wealthy would live, of course. I envision a house rather than a highrise apartment. I also see something with a yard (surrounded by land) and gates. Most big flashy houses around here actually have big back yards. The front is mostly entrance and sometimes a little yard, but nothing too big. Maybe La Lagunita and Country Club would have houses like that but I'm not familiar with the area ( ... )

You've already been very helpful. But it would be great if you could ask around.

Also, on Google Earth's satellite map of the Caracas area, there is a city to the east of La Guaira. It seems to have houses like what I'm looking for (pools, tennis courts). Though I can't really tell if they are private houses or apartment complexes or something else. It's also on a harbor, where it looks like private boats are docked. Unfortunately, the map doesn't name the city. Would you happen to know what city it is and if it would be appropriate.

East of La Guaira there's not really a town, but more like fancy residential areas ( ... )

Sounds like my commute time. I live in Chicago. I'm 6 miles from work. 20mins on a really good day. Most days it's an hour. On a bad day 90mins. On a day with really bad weather, it's taken more than 2 hrs. So I understand.

Anyway, my MC isn't really commuting everyday. He has to go in occasionally to make sure the project is progressing on time, an occasional meeting or for a social event.

I'm playing with the idea, that he has a helicopter available for his use. But I haven't worked through it completely.

Been spending time prowling Venezuelan real estate sites. Found at least 2 homes that are perfect for the other businessman character in Cerro Verde.

And so far an almost perfect one for my main character in La Lagunita.
