Call the Stanford Medical School Dean's office and ask. They'll have all of those old programs somewhere.

Hmm. Wow. That is a thought. Don't know that I'd have the guts to do it, but maybe. Thanks fr the suggestion. :-)

Or the Registrar's Office (Records). Trust me, it wouldn't be an odd question for a typical Records Office staff member to be asked. You can even email them if you'd rather. Here's their contact info page: http://med.stanford.edu/md/registrar/contact.html

Thank you so much. I think I might be able to e-mail them easier than I could talk to them. (Especially if I made a new e-mail account...*is scared of the big smart people*)

What tlatonani said. Alternately, contact the Stanford University Archives or the Lane Medical Archives. One of the reference staff may be able to access that information quickly.

Hey, thanks! I think I'd be a lot less afraid to call the Archives than the Dean's office.

*snickers* I'm sure. The Dean's office, on the other hand...probably does as well, but that doesn't mean I want to call them!

Why don't you search the May/June 1979 archives of the Stanford campus newspaper online? Undoubtedly there were quite a few stories related to the event. Most newspapers are archived completely online nowadays although you may need to pay a nominal fee if you are a non-subscriber. My father graduated from the university in 1963 and the business school in 1966 and his graduations were late May. I assume that the medical school's graduation ceremonies are similarly timed.

You could also try the alumni association, the Palo Alto (the city Stanford is in) newspaper, or the San Mateo County Times.
