BDSM, kink, kinky and such...nothing to specific and i cant find even bad articles on JSTOR...google scholar was equally useless...but i am notoriously bad at thinking up search terms
Ugh JSTOR is a pain in the butt to search - they don't use controlled vocab and since it's all PDF there is no good way to scan the text of whatever articles they pull up.
I've found better success in searching google scholar and then retrieving the articles from JSTOR later once I have the exact citation.
There might be a better index for you to look at too, perhaps something on gender studies. What kind of access do you have? A University library?
I've actually gotten used to JSTOR...through years of abuse-er i mean use...
i also tried google scholar and came up with idiots who werent cite-able in the slightest...and articles that i would have to pay for to get the full text
i have a University library as well as the ability to check out books through other libraries...and my university is paying for things like JSTOR accounts and what not...
I'll echo the above poster and ask for what terms you were using in your search. Also, if you have access to a university library, you can take the good citations and get them through interlibrary loan, usually for minimal cost or even for free, depending on the library.
Lastly, I'd suggest you skim the university's database list for something specifically on psychology, sociology, sexuality or gender or queer studies (those are some of the terms I think would be in the titles.) Oh, or maybe even the Alternative Press index, since some of what you're looking for might not be in standard journals.
Try joining FetLife. It's like MySpace for kinksters. You can post questions, and no doubt you'll get answers. The trick will be sorting out the opinions from the facts. Alternately, try contacting Jay Weisman who writes BDSM non-fiction books. Most people in the BDSM community are open to sharing knowledge of the history of the community.

It's kind of a survey of kink and it touches quite a bit on the history of each practice.
