not at all sure it's factual but Da Vinci's Inquest is a Canadian show about a coroner in Vancouver- it must be based on something because it /feels/ right and the places it differs from US dramas are real clear.

have you googled the specific kind of interview: first interview of a witness to a murder, canada? or put it out on your own lj for any canadian friends you have to answer?

googling canadian police witness interview procedures got some intriguing looking links.

you could also go to the particular province/city your story's set in, be more probing and direct in your googling.

when i'm googling and searching for medical/nursing/hospital/healthcare delivery policies for things i'm working on i expect to put in a good ten, twelve hours just getting my search right and checking out what comes back to see how i need to refine it. over the years it's gotten easier but it's still the equivalent of a coupla days in the library with the card catalog and the reference books spread out all around me, just making notes.

good luck.

good question.

Thank you on the tips for googling, really. They will make the rest of this story much easier to write. Teach a person how to catch a fish, and all that.

I never followed DVs Inquest, but I may have to look into it now, as the university is just a ferry ride away from Vancouver. Again, I'm glad you mentioned it, I would never have remembered it.

Thanks!

i love DV inquest. some of the best writing and character development going, and marvelous direction/editing as well.

there are the McGill sniper murders what, now, 25 years ago? dunno if those would be any use to you... sad day, that.

and i LOVE That icon, too (she said sleepily, having just gotten off work, and using a few stolen moments to catch up on mail).

A new Canadian show is Blood Ties. Okay, it's also about a vampire, but there are police characters and settings at Metro Toronto Police headquarters on College Street. It's on Lifetime.
