Pain level upon breaking an arm

Here's a question for klutzy people, and those who love them. Hee.

If you break your arm (humerus) as an adult, how much does it hurt? Is it screaming your lungs out pain? Fainting pain? Or only swearing loudly pain? My character is a no-nonsense woman, FWIW, and I don't want to over- or under-state the case.
