Hi everyone, I'm really sorry that I never posted about AHBL9. I'd intended to have it all written up within a few days, while it was fresh in my mind. But about halfway through Misha's panel, one of my sisters at home messaged to say that one of our pet calves had been seriously hurt in a freak accident. I honestly barely remember any of the convention at all, and I haven't been in the right head space until now to attempt pulling what little memories I do have back together.
I had a photo with The British Men Of Letters, and they were so nice.
And also had a shared Misha photo with my mum and the sister who came with us (in a horrible twist of fate, she was also the owner of the aforementioned calf).
The panels were great. There were a lot of laughs. Matt and Richard were as hilariously inappropriate as ever. David Hadyn-Jones and Adam Fergus were so fun. David mentioned he was cosplaying Ketch. Someone's phone rang during Misha's panel and he ran up the stairs into the crowd to answer it himself. It was funny, but I feel bad for the owner of the phone who had to smooth things over with his irate friend after Misha had done trolling him.
I was mentally a mess by the time we went to do autographs, having been given the news about the calf, and my mum had to take my sister away, she was crying so much. David and Adam and Misha were all really sweet and friendly.
And to cap off what should have been the perfect weekend - we had to put that calf down on Tuesday afternoon. Her name was Stormfly. We'd had her for two years, since she was one week old, and she was the sweetest thing. My dad had found her on Sunday afternoon lying with her head twisted under her body and one of her legs caught in the hay feeder. We had the vet out to do what he could, but the damage to her neck and leg was too much. She never stood up again. It was absolutely heartbreaking.
So yeah. There is my unfortunately depressing tale of the AHBL9 convention.
