My cousin put this up in facebook about my Aunt who is retired Air Force and I thought it was an amazing thing, so I thought I would pass it on if anyone wanted to donate. If anyone does they can contact me....

Wounded Warriors QuiltsShare

My Mom (My Aunt) - who is amazing - has undertaken a rather intense project. She has been making quilts for the wounded warriors - our vets who return from Iraq and Afghanistan and are seriously wounded. The quilt are generally lap size are meant to be tucked around wheelchairs and the like. Other quilters have donated complete quilts and still others have donated $75 to have a quilt made in their name.

So far, roughly 20 have been made and sent out all over the United States with a strong focus on the reservists who have been injured. The military has provided an extensive list to my parents of those in need of quilts and mom's sewing machine is humming along.

If you are interested in donating a quilt to someone, please let me know. Your name is sewn onto the quilt and a card is sent with everyone. Or if you simply want to make a quilt on your own, we can make sure it finds its way to a person who needs it.

I have read the letters my parents have received from the recipients of the quilts and they break your heart. Some are written by their caretakers as they are so severely brain damaged, they cannot write for themselves. Others are from those who have felt abandoned by their country that the gift of something as simple as a quilt gives them hope.
